222 Rem
« on: November 05, 2006, 02:12:00 AM »
Looks like I have a 10'' bull in 222 Rem. coming soon. Was brousing through past posts and don't see a lot mentioned  about these. If anyone has any experience with this barrel , would like to hear from you. If accuracy is good from the shorter 10'' barrel seemed like a good all around carry gun to me.Thanks for any info.

Don't know how true it is but was told the 222 just doesn't cut it in a 10' barrel. I sold mine before i really had a chance to give it a good try. I bought a 221 fireball barrel and i think it is great.

I have an old  .222 10" barrel on a Contender and it is a fine lite varment gun. I`ve been shooting 52 gn. Serrias and they shoot very well. It has been my tractor gun, but I`m afraid it don`t have the penitration I want for coyotes, so I`m replaceing it with a .243 Striker, as soon I can get a load worked up and get it zeroed. You`ll have alot of fun with your thriple duce, it`s a great little round for rifle or handgun.

Hi Catfish
It's good to hear you've had good luck with your 222. I was starting to get worried about this barrel. I understand the 14" is a very good shooter but the 10" is not so good. If you reload for yours a good starting place would be appreciated, I'm guessing a faster burning powder is better in the shorter barrel. Thanks for the reply.
