Couple of Questions
« on: November 05, 2006, 02:52:44 PM »
Just sent a Handi back to NEF for a 357 mag barrel, and have a couple questions.  This is my first time doing this.

First, do all the barrels come drill and tapped?  I want to put a Williams peep on it when it gets back, and would like to have it here waiting.

Second, I know the site says to expect 4-6 weeks turn around during peak periods, but what has been the norm recently?

Thanks.

Yes, all current production rifle barrels come drilled and tapped,  if you want a WGRS peep sight, be sure to have em add it to your order, they only charged $18 for it last year, you won't beat their price, also make sure they put on a front sight of the proper height for it, it's better they know up front whatcha want than try to work with it after the fact.

Turn around can be as little as 3 weeks or as long as 9 weeks, maybe longer if they don't have the barrel in stock when they get to your order.

OLD GEEZER,I HAVE A GHOST RING AND FIRE SIGHT COMBO ON MY 45-100 HANDI.I CALLED WILLIAMS MYSELF AND ORDERED ALL THE GOODIES.THE REASON FOR THIS WAS TO MAKE SURE THE FRONT SIGHT WAS THE CORRECT HEIGHT FOR MY BASE CHOICE(THEY HAVE 2 THAT WILL WORK ONE IS FOR TARGET APPLICATIONS THE OTHER IS THE GUIDE OPEN SIGHT BASE LIKE WHAT YOU WANT))  AND I WANTED A FEW EXTRA APERTURES.IF YOU CALL THEM THEY WILL WANT THE BARREL DIAMETERS FRONT AND BACK BUT YOU DONT HAVE YOUR BARREL YET.I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU OUT.

Thanks for the feedback fellows.  This is going to be for my 10 yr old grand-daughter.  She has a youth model Handi in 243, but won't shoot it because of the recoil.  I put a FP series sight on my Marlin 1894 last year, and she can shoot it better than I can, thus the reason for the new barrel and sight.  She won't give my 94 back til I get her new barrel in.   :(

When I ordered the sight for the 94, there was a question on front sight height, so I waited til I got the rear on before I ordered the front.  When I did order the front, I had them put in the green instead of the red. Williams talked me thru the whole process, was very helpful, and I really like the green.  I'm going for the same set up on the Handi.

My son in law just bought a Handi in 44 mag, and wants me to order him a Fire sight set for it, and I was going to order the FP for the 357 at the same time.  Guess it'd be prudent to just wait til I have the barrel in hand before I order.  Only problem is I'll have to go back to the trusty ole 336 in 30-30, unless I can sneek the 94 out without her seeing me. ;)
