does anyone have have a 10mm. If so I was wondering if I could get a quick review from you.

I have a Glock 20.
I like the gun but do not shoot it as much as my Delta Elites.
I have never had any trouble with reloads in my Glock but have heard the horror stories. The stories were probably the reason I started reaching past the Glock for the Colts and it has turned into a habit.

I've got a Glock 29 and it's pleasant to shoot and I've put lots of rounds through it with no problems. I had a Delta For a few years and as nice as it was to handle it wasn't as reliable as the Glock has been. I normally keep a Glock 20 magazine with a A & E grip extension on it. That keeps the grip size the same even on the 16 round magazine. I also put an Agrip on it so it would be non-slip no matter how wet or greasy my hand gets. For carry purposes I put the factory 10 round magazine in it. I shoot exclusively reloads, mostly 150 grain Noslers and 165 grain Gold Dots or Golden Sabers and AA #7 powder.

My Glock 20 in 10mm is very accurate. I shot it to 30 yds and put three right in the 1/2" bulls eye. I have never had any problems reloading for it. The blow ups you hear about are probably mistakes made when chambering
a round. My gun eats everything no problem. I load with Blue Dot and No9 powders. Its just a great gun!!!!!!

I love the 10mm. Its probably the most versatile autoloading cartridge in existance. I can shoot self defense rounds (.40 cal level) or I can step all the way up to hunting / bear defense loads, all in a small, easy to shoot package. I can shoot 135 gr loads at 1100 fps for training or self defense or I can shoot mid range loads ... 155-165gr loads at 1200-1250 or I can even launch 200gr XTPs at 1350fps from my 6" barrel or 225gr Hardcast Flatnose loads at 1200 fps for bear defense.

For example w/ a standard 4.6" Glock 20 barrel, max velocities from hot loads are::
135gr up to 1600fps
155gr up to 1450fps
165 up to 1375 fps
180 up to 1350 fps
200 from 1250 to 1300fps
215gr up to 1225fps
225gr up to 1175fps

Energies are magnum level running anwhere from high 600ft/lbs on up to almost 800ft/lbs. W/ a 6" barrel, I can get 200grain bullets running w/ well into the 800 ft/lbs of energy. These are the same or better figures as full house .357 Magnum, all from an autoloader.

I love my 10mms.

Mine is a fitted BarSto in my G20 longslide. You can't go wrong with Barsto, Jarvis, KKM, or Storm Lake IMHO. Oh, and it DOES make a nice brush gun

That looks like a great alternative to a desert eagle, costs less and is lighter too. How does the longer barrel affect timing? Can factory loads still be used? or are tailored reloads better?
And last but not least how accurate are they with 200g "deer" loads?
Most shots around here are 20 yds or less, with the occasional 60yd oppertunity.

The 200+ grain loads are basically all I use to hunt with and I do hunt deer with my longslide. The longer barrel doesn't affect timing at all aside from probably increasing pressure and definitely increasing velocity. Factory loads can still be used (what I plink with). I don't reload yet but I would assume that as long as the overall cartridge specs are in line w/ accepted factory standards, they would cause no problems of their own. I will say that this is an ideal setup for reloaders and people who are trying to extract maximum velocity / power from the 10mm (fully supported barsto barrel and strong glock frame coupled w/ extra 4.5-5oz extra mass of longer slide). I think the only thing limiting this piece from extreme accuracy would be the Glock trigger. I've got a modified trigger and I myself can shoot 1" groups at 25 yards if I do my part, however 1.5-2" groups at 25yds are more common since the pistol is more accurate than the shooter. I've also fired a number of 1.5" 50 yard groups, so I would say that it has EXTREMELY nice accuracy potential. I'm working on getting myself a 2lb trigger installed and will expect quite a nice improvement in this area.

The most important thing to remember when hunting w/ a pistol is that there is NOTHING more important than a SOLID FIELD REST or you won't be able to extract even half of a pistol's functional accuracyl. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE

I think the 10mm is a versatile and great cartridge. I have a G20 w/ a 6" KKM/scoped for deer. Also have a G29 w/ both stock and Storm Lake barrel, a Colt Delta, Lew Horton Delta Ten, S&W 1066 and 1076 and a S&W 610 6 1/2" (very accurate).

Not a 10mm only handgunner as I also have 1911s in 45acp, S&W 625, mob of Glocks in various calibers, Beretta 92, Ruger 44mag and 454 etc

I recently picked up a used G20 as a mountain gun. I liked the 10mm ballistics. For comparason I have g19,g23,g2,g30 and an assortment of other weapons including a 357 and 44 mags.

I took the G20 out saturday loaded with DoubleTab 200gr Beartooth rounds. While I would sa the recoil is sharper than a 45acp, it is not that much more. Easer to shoot than a 44 mag and probably even a 357mag. There big sell for the g20 as a mountain gun is the overall firepower (3 mags = 45 rounds).

I was pleased and am now wanting a G29..Anyone looking to sell theirs?

I'm not salvo, but I'm pretty sure they're Heinie SlantPro's (or Straight Eight SlantPro's). I've had the same sights on a few of my Glocks.

I currently have a Bo-mar set on my G20 and I just don't like how it protrudes so far the back of the slide. Now I have some questions for you if you don't mind: Have you ever compared what fired primers look like from your guns vs. the fired cases that come with the pistol? The reason that I ask is that I got my reloads up to 1310 fps (180 gr Hdy XTP) and I notice that the primer seems to flow back into the firing pin/striker hole in the slide and leave a square protrusion on the primer. The cases sent with the gun show something completely different but I imagine that they were weak 10mm loads - the cases were aluminum Blazer stuff. Should I be worried that I've gone too far with the velocity/pressure? My previous loads in the 1150 fps range had the same squared protrusion in the primer after firing.

I don't reload yet (although I've been lurking in the reloading sections of about ten forums for over a year now) and Iwould assume that the squared indentation on your primers means that pressure signs are rearing their ugly heads and its time to back down. I read somewhere that hot loads typically exhibit this type of behavior and its nothing to worry about as long as your barrel has good support (i.e. aftermarket, NOT stock). Don't quote me on this but .. food for thought. I would post this around the reloading forums or speak with someone who knows for sure. I love the sport and hobby of reloading and I love to hunt but PLEASE don't do something that could lose a finger or worse.

Like nickE10mm said they are Heinie Slant Pro's, I highly recomend them!
The grip tape is 3M Tread Tape from Home Depot, works great and for around $10.00 you get enough to do at least 50 Glocks

I have had a G20 for 8 years.
I have not shot it in 6 years.
It went to the range a few times as I tried hand load work ups.
But the G20 is so big, it does not work well for me concealed carry inside my pants.

I'm an experienced reloader and have become interested in the G20/10mm lately. I understand that the OEM barrel doesn't fully support the case, which isn't an issue with warm loads. But case support becomes an issue with hot loads. I'm a true believer in through-and-through wound channels, and therefore shoot hardcast and FMJ bullets exclusively. Does an aftermarket barrel and spring set affect the G20's reliability? If so (and I imagine it would to some degree) how much?

Is a 6 inch barrel hard to pack, carry, and accessorize?

What's a long slide? Is it Glock? What's its impact on reliability?

Love my 1911 45ACP and Blackhawk 45 Colt, but I'm looking forward to acquiring the G20 and developing loads.

Another option I have not seen mentioned in this thread, is the Witness 10mm. Large frame, all steel, on the CZ platform. Better ergonomics, supported chamber, and better price than the Glock 20. My Glock 20 is long gone, only the Glocks in .45 and 9mm remain in my safe. I liked the Witness so well, I now have them in 9mm/.40/10mm/.45.

Due to tighter chambers you are more likely to have a reliability issue with an aftermarket barrel. I have a Stormlake barrel and out of maybe 400rds ive had a couple instances where my gun didnt feed fully. I also have a wolf 22lb spring and guiderod in which i havent had a malfunction with but some have reported problems.

I'm sure you already probably know this, but due to the polygonal rifling of the OEM barrel, it should not be used for a diet of cast bullets. An after market such as the Storm Lake would be needed. However, for self defense use, I'd stick with factory jacketed fodder and the OEM barrel for reliability AND liability.

I have the 6" Storm Lake barrel and am looking forward to chronographing my reloads. I''ll be able to step up a little bit from the Glock barrel because of the more supported chamber. Thanks, db. I already knew about the rifling on the OEM barrel. But that begs a question...are plated bullets hard enough to ride the rifling? Doesn't matter, I guess. I'll use MagTec. Works well in my 1911.

Not trying to start a war here, but I believe Ayoob's position of "use factory ammo for self defence" is unsupported by evidence.

As for my reloads in general, I trust my mine with my life. More than I would ever trust factory. I know who built the ammo. I know how it was built. I know the components and the process. And I don't bring a firearm into the "bet your life on it" circle until all the bugs are worked out.

I spend a bit of time at GlockTalk. Familiar with the 10 Ring's moderator. I agree. Good source of reloading information. My concern is compromising Glock's reliability for enhanced external ballistics. I think I'll work up loads carefully and back off a touch when I begin to see the smile. After all, I'll still have a somewhat heavy 10mm slug moving fairly quickly. And if that doesn't finish it, there's fifteen more where that came from. (And if that doesn't do the job, I'll whip out my Blackhawk and 1895G.
