I just got one and went to the range with very poor results. Tried 3 diferrent slugs and it would string them out up and down about 18". Kicks like holy hell. A whole lot of barrel lift. I brought 3 other slugs to the range and they shot well, looks like a waste of $300. I sure hope the 209x50 shoots better. Any suggestions? Thanks
My 209x50 M/L Pro-hunter barrel shoot great, like most guns I worked up a load that get me MOA at 100 yards.
As for the slug barrel, as any other slug shotgun you will have to try several different slugs tell you find the one that shoot the best. I bought a $1350 dollar Beretta XtremaII slug shotgun and put a $400 dollar Leupold scope on it and had to try 4 different slugs tell I found one that worked. I got 8 to 10 inch groups with the Hornady 300 gr. SST's, 3 to 4 inch groups with the Remington solid coppers, and Federal Barnes Expanders. My best groups were with the 2 3/4 inch Lightfields, I had one ragged hole at 100 yards. All my groups were shot at 100 yards.
So the moral of my story is, no matter the cost of the gun or barrel, we all need to find what shoot best in our guns. If you want to get rid of the barrel (sale), let me know. I would like to give it a shot.
