Yugo M24/47 rear sight
« on: November 06, 2006, 10:47:19 AM »
Just bought this; my first milsurp.  I am in the process of cleaning it up.  How do you get the rear sight off?  Do I need to?

Thanks

I've always left on to clean. Just really worked around it well.
To remove, if I remember right, just punch out the pin holding it in.

Thanks for the reply.  I think there is more to it.  I saw a reference to a small screw on another site.  I will take a closer look and see if I can find a small screw in the front of the sight. If not I will just clean around it and let it be.

Thanks

The screw helps hold the handguard in place I think. The pin is the next step.
It's been awhile.
This link should help too:

some of them were soldered on during armory maintenance.
if it doesn't move easily, don't force it.

I think this is one of those.  I'll just leave it alone.
