Idea for a crazy project....a Martini Cadet Double rifle!!!

It sounds mad, right?
Well, I reckon, with the right fiddling around it could be done and done well.
You'd have to buy 2 identical BSA Cadet actions and then pin them together.
The trigger group, action levers and, most of all, barrel regulation would be the most pressing problems but I think in 357 magnum or, if possible, 357 Maximum it would be a fun hog rifle and seriously turn heads at the range.
Ok, now feel free to let me have it.

Well that certainly would be a chore!! You be alot better off starting with a modern double barrel shotgun in a smaller guage.. The GoldLabel from ruger would be a good startiong place.. It would likely hold some more serious cartridges..  As to pouring it on,, Heck I've heard worse, had a guy once that was considering doubling up a couple of rolling blocks!! They're enough of a pain as is..

I know a good modern shotgun would be EASIER as a starting place but would it be as FUN as a finished product?
And I can see the attraction of a rolling block double.
That way you could #### each action as you wished and be able to see which was still ######.
The same reason why a guy who built his own 4 bore double used a strong hanmmer action.......less chance of accidental double detonation.
But hey, it's just a crazy scheme.

Kombi - hey, get yourself a 12 ga side by side something or another and have a couple of 45-70 chamber inserts made up for it.  Or drop it down to a 20 ga and go with some pistol caliber inserts.  Sorry, just lookin' for the easy way out..................... Mikey.

As I said before, the shotgun route is a lot easier but not as cool, at least not IMO.
I've got a pic of a BP cartridge German falling block double I'll have to post and I suppose that's the inspiration.
As I said before, without doubt it would be a fiddly endeavour, but after reading the effectiveness of the Baikal U/O doubles and their grub screw(?) regulation which managed a 1.5" 2 shot 50yd group for one guy, I think a similar situation with the a SxS would work well.
You'd just have to have enough gap between the muzzles to work with it.
And with flat sided actions like the Cadet there's no reason why it couldn't work.

Well I see the direction your heading.. been that way myself a time or two.. You certainly wouldn't have any trouble having the necessary width with 2 cadets. Why not just go whole hog and build your own action.,. DeHaas has several single shot plans in his book and it would likely be fairly simple to scale one up 2 side-by-side. Back action locks are available from Dixie(shotgun locks). Buiild it in any caliber you want. The ATFE rules are fairly simple and the cost isn't bad...   
Or how about a 16 guage sleeved to a 20 guage with rifled bores..ala Paradox. Brass cases are available and with sabot slugs it would be quite effective at a modest price..

Kombi, you're clearly nuts  but they probably said that about P.O Ackley, too, and he turned out OK.
Must be something in the water down there; I read recently that NZ students are going to be allowed to use "text speak" in exams

Don't know the title off hand but he has so many interesting books just set a search up on ebay for his name and scan the titles.. He even has a design in the book for a composite action. Made from a series of plates laminated together to create the receiver. It avoids having to cut the hole for the calling block..
