Winchester Apex?
« on: November 07, 2006, 06:12:22 AM »
I found one on sale for $225  Stainless fluted with the black fleck stock.  Has a real good trigger on it.  How do they shoot? Load? Clean? Thanks for any info.

I bought one for my older son a couple of months back. It was lightly used with the fluted SS barrel and a camo stock. Still have some load development to do for it but so far 130gr of Pyro pellets and a 250 Shockwave group under 2" at 100 and about 4" at 200. He shot a nice cow elk about 3 weeks ago for his first big game ever so he was pumped. Unfortunately it wasn't his gun that he connected with. He shot over her with his gun (due to his nervousness) but made the shot with another gun we had with us. I checked the gun when we got back to camp to make sure it was on target, it hit right where it was suppose to at the 80 yard range he was shooting at.

Over all I like the gun. It points well and comes up to the shoulder well. The only complaint I have is that the trigger angle is different than any of the guns I have and feels funny against my finger. The trigger weight is OK just feels different. It's not a big deal and my son doesn't seem to notice it so I guess it's just me. BTW, I got the gun for $175 plus shipping.

It's better to shoot for the sky and come a bit short than to shoot for the ground and hit every time. After all, the ground is just a place to start, the sky's the limit.
