It's home...

I really like this feature...

Here's what it is...for those who didn't know...

The Cerra Coating turned out great...Wayne was nice enough to send it on to me early so I can take it on my upcoming Bear/Deer hunt with nomosendaro next week...He'll be doing the scope rail and steel forend spacer in the coating as well...His work is simply awsome...I'll be headed to the range this Friday with it...opps...I almopst forgot...this complete rifle...

Quick...actually they did :-[

I like the color of the laminated wood. What is the name of that wood laminate?

Are you going to have the scope and scope base done in the same finish?

Fred...

They are called..." Royal Jacks"...and yes and no...the scope will remain as is for now...and after the holidays.....it will be getting a Ziess on it.....  The rings base and steel forend spacer will get Cerra Coated after hunting season...Wayne has other colors available I know he does black...and green...and this color...which he calls muddy brown...and he might have other colors available to him for those wanting something a little different

The coloring of that cerra-coat has an "patina" look to it.  We have an old, really old(1800s), rifle out at the farm that has the same color to it.

Mac,

you need to take your gunsmith aside and ask him to tighten up the screws on that butt plate. It is about to fall off of the rifle in that 2nd picture...in case you didn't notice.  ;D

Mighty fine lookin shootin' iron in spite of the loose butt plate. 270 is my favorite caliber (got 2 of them).  There won't be any excuse not to connect on your hunt.

yup, I'm a bit envious.

Take care,
Chris

H&R used to sell them, but the latest word is they may no longer offer them, info on them is in the FAQ and Help sticky that you must not have read!! ;D

bet they will not be carrying a rifle just like that!

Outstanding!!!!

Hey Mac

How ya been? That is certainly one beautiful gun! Congrats on finally getting all you've wanted in a Handi. I like the buttplate and pad too. Here's an idea you might consider for those stocks. I got a set of Cinn Lams from Big Blue a while back that are as pretty a set as I have ever seen. What he had done is put several applications of tung oil on them and then sealed them with Butcher's amber floor wax. It seals the inside of the stocks as well as really shining them up, no kidding , mine are absolutely beautiful. Would be a great touch to great looking rifle.
Best to ya buddy on the upcoming hunt, just don't drop it or scratch it now  ;).

Thanks John...

It's been a long wait to get it ...that's for sure...Your's sounds real nice...and would like to see them sometime...I'm hoping to be down your way sometime in the spring and try busting one of those big ole OK hogs...Hopefully have this all done by that time...and let you and Digger see it and shoot it first hand.....I'll be going a little different on the stocks though...I really like these and the way they look... but have been wanting to find a source for excellent finished gunstocks for our Handi's for some time...something that most folks can afford..and not have to finish yourself...I think I have...and am going to be making a road trip after the New Year......Hopefully in a couple months... it's going to have a real special custom stock set ...That's all on that for a little while...Were still getting some of the paticulars worked out...however I think things are going to work out just fine and should benifit all here...

Mac'

very interesting rendition of a 'Handi' !   i hope she shoots fast, hard, and accurate.......

if you have an accuracy problem because of the rebore i'd like to suggest you try some of those relatively thin-jacketed Sierra's.   i suspect that where a rifle has a bore that is not consistent in its diameter from one end to another that those thinner jackets would help with accuracy.

i hope you get great results and great harvests with her!

take care, Mac'

I seriously doubt Wayne's 6 groove cut rifling has any bore inconsistencies to worry about, both of mine are super accurate as is Mac's .338-06A-Square!! ;)

Quick'

that's probably the best way to rifle a barrel for accuracy and longevity if the deep-hole drilling/metallurgy/etc has been done properly.   i can understand how you've had good results so far if that's the case.

take care,
