Newbie..got a ?

Sooooo I finallly get to go pick up the new NEF handi Ultra Varmint in .223 today! Plan on floating the forend tomorrow but won't be able to take her out for a go-round until saturday. Should I go ahead and polish the chamber up with from Fritz before I even touch off the first round? How'bout doing a couple of passes down the barrel with some Frtiz to speed up the break-in. Any thoughts? Thanks

Welcome to GBO! Won't hurt, you need to clean it good anyway, so do it all at the same time.
The chamber polish isn't necessary if you have an extractor barrel, but it won't hurt to do it on an ejector barrel.

Shoot it first without the O-Ring, and see how it does. Bring it with you and try it both ways. O and congrats.

O-rings are explained in the FAQ and Help sticky.

So I also plan sticking a Harris Bipod on this baby, I have heard that the handi is very picky about forearm pressure. How does the bipod affect things. Does the Oring fix, work with a bipod. Should a full bedding job be in order? Thanks again!

Most of those that have fully bedded the forend have the best luck with a bipod, but you won't know until you try it, my O-ringed .223 Ultra Varmint shot one of the best groups I've ever shot with a bipod under it.

Some shoot great off Bi-Pods, as do some Handi's with the O-Ring. I have found with my limited experiance, the O-ring will work but may depend on the forarm, most wood based forearms seem to work the best with this method as opposed to synthetic.. this worked well for me....It takes a little getting use too, but once you do it works well...
