Rem 7600 - 308 to 7mm-08
« on: November 08, 2006, 12:47:59 PM »
Can you switch out a 7600 .308 barrel with a 7mm-08 without much difficulty.......assuming you can find a 7mm-08 barrel?  Any ideas where to get a 7mm-08 barrel that will fit a 7600?

I've found a couple of 7600's in 7mm-08 at GunBroaker, etc, but they are VERY Expensive in the $800-$900+ range.

I figure that if it is doable, you should be able to pick up a doner 7600 .308 and then put a decent barrel on it.

Thanks

I don't see why Remington doesn't make the 7mm/08 a regular option.I'd lilke to have one of Grice's but have been promising myself one in a savage with their accu-trigger.Who knows though?

Who knows maybe some day Rem will make it a standard caliber in their 7600.  This is the 7th time that Grices has done a 7600 sepcial run in 7mm-08.....seems like Rem would get a clue.

I hear ya on the savage with their accu-trigger. I fell in love with the caliber when I got my Rem 700 Mtn LSS in 7mm-08 which I'm going to give to my son.  I just think for me, a pump in 7mm-08 would be just about the perfect deer rifle.  Can't wait!!!

I was going to tell you guys that you can get the 7600 with a synthetic stock for $429.00 over at Walmart  but i didn't realize that the 7mm-08 wasn't a standard caliber. I do think its time and i also think its time for some stainless models.

Remington does have a clue but Remington can make more money QUICKER by supplying 500 7600s in 7mm-08 to Grice in bulk as a special run than they can by offering the 7600 in 7mm-08 in their standard line and selling one here and one there over a long period of time.  Besides, I'd say that Grice has an exclusive deal with Remington to be the sole supplier of the 7600 in 7mm-08.
