I filled up yesterday and it was the lowest that it's been around here in a long time. Where I bought it was $2.049. I saw prices as low as $2.019 and as high as $2.089 while I was out and about yesterday.

One dropped to 1.99 for about three days last Thursday.

Haven't seen any "excessive profiteering" lately.  Gas was $2.29 the day before election, $2.29 day after election, and dropped to $2.25 three days ago.

TM7, it is a fallacy that corporations pay taxes.  They simply pass them along to the consumer.  Ultimately, all taxes are paid by you and me.  I know some people like windfall profit taxes because they want to punish those "evil corporations" for making too much money.  Guess what, those punitive taxes are only going to hurt us.  There is no such thing as a good tax, just bearable and unbearable taxes.  Hope your Thanksgiving goes well. :)

I read in an article recently that the lower prices always come on election day.  A senior Oil executive was quoted as stating, "We do lower prices...we do more to contirbute to their campaign by doing this than all contributions combined..."  I am searching frantically for the article.

In some other thread, I attempted to make the point that crude futures prices effect the pump price. I got an education about seasonal refining cycles. Fair enough. However, I mentioned futures prices (in late September) and saw that they were trading higher for November. Voila.

I realize that a lot of things effect the price of the refined product, but still, crude is half the price.
