I connected!
« on: November 08, 2006, 05:22:12 PM »
I switch back and forth between my encore 50 cal and my TC Hawken 54 cal (usually depends how archery season goes).  The past 2 seasons I've hunted with the encore.  Well I filled my buck tag with my recurve opening weekend of the archery season.  So I figured it was time to use the hawken again.  Last Saturday, I shot a nice doe.  Shot distance was 12 yards.  The doe went 40 yards and expired.  I forget how fun it is to hunt with this gun.  I was using a .530 prb pushed by 75 grains of ffg Goex.

Has anyone else had any luck this season?  I'm heading out in the morning to go for another doe.  Good luck to all!
I suppose it is time to retire the hawken (I've shot 2 deer with it now) and switch to my seneca.  It is a crime - I've owned the seneca for 3 years now and have never fired it.  There is still time this year I suppose - muzzleloader season opens in MN at the end of the month.  Any one have any good suggestions for a prb load using goex???

What's the matter Ron, couldn't you find a bigger one?  ;D

Good job and nice deer.
David

It's better to shoot for the sky and come a bit short than to shoot for the ground and hit every time. After all, the ground is just a place to start, the sky's the limit.
