They deserve the loss because thay failed to stop the invasion from the south.  They deserve the loss because they failed to keep governmental spending in check.

On the other hand, I am better off because of the tax cuts.  The nation is better off because we have thwarted any additional attacks on the country.

They neglected their constituency, and in the final analysis acted as if power was all important, and the needs of the people were unimportant.

I am sorry to see them go, but perhaps this will be a wake-up call for them.

Can't really disagree with the above comments, but I think the real question should be did WE deserve to get pasted this election.  The only importance in having Republicans in office is to protect

OUR
rights.  I personally don't care about the political life of any particular politician (don't have any friends or family in government), other than how it impacts me and the country.  In this case, I think the voters cut off their noses to spite their faces.

This had very little, if anything to do with Replican leadership.  Oh sure, THEY will take credit for it (before you start, I consider myself "mostly Republican" in my views).  But THEY did the same thing the Democrats, or Independants for that matter, would have done.

Invasion from the south..... do you have any idea what actually comes across our southern border.  It's a pipe dream to think it's only poor mexican immagrants looking for work.  Mexico is considered our weakest point of entry!

The Republicans deserved the loss they took.  NOW, the question is, can they take it like "men" and actually learn from the beating?

Betcha we're right back where we are now...in eight years when the Dems forget where they came from as well.

"Mojority" is an ugly word.

We are the real loosers here.  Those sportsmen who listened to the Democrats and taught those bad Republicans a lesson are what we call "Suckers".  Maybe Naive - but suckers is probably more accurate.  They just put into power the party that could and now, will do,  the most damage to gun ownership and hunting.  One born every minute.

NOT THAT IT'S IN JEOPARDY...but I'm glad you put your "gun ownership" before all the other issues in America that are REALLY messed up now.

Here's to an Independant president in '08!

Think the Dims will get us out of Iraq or that they have a plan.  Nope they just take potshots but have no plan.  See my post in with the Matthews/Howard Dean interview.

Will the Dims protect our borders from the illegal flood - nope they want all the Illegals they can get.  Its their new base for those who have not figured it out.

Will they protect our privacy - sorry. Clinton with Dims backing was all for wiretaps before Bush.

How about Judges - they will stop the bad conservitive judges.  Remember the imminent domain decision that the libs on the supreme court made.  It was the conservitive judges that voted against it.

Lets say you are in a rough neighborhood with a friend.  He is not your BEST friend and you disagree sometimes but in general you agree more than not.  There is also a thug across the street dealing drugs and represents most everything you are against.  Lets say you lent your friend 10 bucks and he forgot to pay you.  You remind him and he does not even remember and blos you offf.  Are you going to make friends with the thug just to show your friend a lesson?  Only a fool would do that right.  How about the thugs starts a fight with friend - are you going to help or just stand there and watch?  Well - guess what just happened with the Republicans?

BUSH wanted to "set a new tone" in Wasington, he reached out to the Democrats. Biggest mistake !

The Republicans won in 2000, and again in 2004, yet STILL panders to the whining Democrats. Even bigger mistake !

The Republicans who had BEEN the minority, but NOW are the Majority STILL acted like LOOSERS despite  the support of the people. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!

Now because of their lack of acting & doing what WINNERS do they and I think all of us LOOSE.

Not only deserve but actually set it up for a tag off back to the dems. The repubs have set up a more centrally controlled government, set precedents for foreign interventions, violations of privacy, more Constitutional shredding, a Homeland secret police, a communistic emminent domain concept, excessive use of executive orders and bill signing riders, created a flat earth free trade doctrine, and began the slow dissolution of the USA under the mantel of the North American Union....all this political work has been done in the name of conservatism.  With this tag off the Dems will proceed to further implement the social law citizen reorientation that goes hand and hand with the last dozen years. And remember Billy Bob Clinton, he was so done, stick a fork in him, BUT who rehabilitated him?.?  That's right..the Bushes! There is only one poilitical party running things and this is the Establishment Party with the two wings--Dem or Repub. I'm with Hardertr on this state of affairs_ _ _third party in 2008 seems to be the only way to save the country and break the strangle hold of the Establishment Party. And true...Dems will most likely up taxation to service interest on the National debt,,,a nice piece of change for some...cui bono?

You have the right to your opinion but Iran doesn't think there is one party.  I honestly don't see how anyone could not see the difference between the two parties.

TM7, don't try to pin this one on the Republicans.  It was the Democrat-appointed portion of the Supreme Court that OK'd this piece of crap (but your description is dead on).

TM7, I think I owe you an apology.  I was thinking that all of the liberal judges on the Supreme Court were Democrat appointees, but I think that 2 or 3 of the infamous five were Republican appointees.  Just goes to show that you can't trust some of these judges once they are appointed.  However, I stand by the original thought that the eminent domain issue being a Democrat issue, inasmuch as the case in issue was the product of Democrat (mayor or city council, I can't recall which).  Most Republicans are staunch private property rights believers.

Here in Indiana, a Republican governor wants to build a circum-Indianapolis beltway that will really benefit only the fat cats of the road construction lobby. To do so, he'll seize farmland and throw people out of nice homes, just like the Kelo situation. I hope that the Democrat-controlled statehouse can resist long enough until we can throw his thieving butt out of office in '08.

TM's point that the greed of emminent domain readily crosses party lines is well taken.

  Hardertr;

i would also like to see an "independent presidency"..but what is our chance of getting it ?

One not only votes offensively...trying to install the lesser of two evils, but also votes defensively..trying to keep out of office the gun grabbers, baby killers and the Socialist-Marxists etc..

This reply will not be popular, but as my dear departed Dad used to say "Never step in a pile of crap, just dive in and get used to the smell".
The Republicans lost, because they were so crooked. Are the Dems any better? No. 3 things will fix our govt: 1, Term limits, 2 OUTLAW Lobbyist, 3 Line item veto. Thier is no such thing anymore as "left wing" or "right wing", because if they make a stand on Monday to the left, on Tuesday some one pays them off, and on Wednesday they lean to the right. The days of one party standing one way have long since passed. They are all crooked, so yes they deserved to lose. Special interest, religious kooks (no disrespect to good honest people of faith), and money grubbing scum in big buisness are running this country into the ground. This election day, more of the real people spoke up, but we need alot more of them to vote, and speak up. The Democrats did not win, the Republicans just lost and the Democrats were the only ones left to fill the void. My daughter is studing the constituion and I helped her study. I did not realize how many of or rights have been taken away, and are being violated. Just open up a junior high level social studies book and read. If the realization does not scare you, you are a braver person than I.

What would work is, never vote for the same politician twice; only that will never work as we have a lot of people putting fruitloops back in over and over again.

Yes, they deserved to lose.  I am fully prepared to suffer through the next years of the same old lip service, higher taxes, and anything else that comes my way.
I'm very conservative, and have voted with them in the past, but they turned their backs on their base.
They tried to appease, and tried to be too politically correct and liberal in many area's.
The best I've seen the Republicans was under Newt in 94...they must have forgotton why we elected them.
If they learn anythng at all, they will come back and protect their base.
I doubt the Dems will last long...we know what's up there...had 40 years of that, and the only change I see is worse.

Would be nice to kick them all out at once, both Dems and Reps....our forefathers would have drug them all to the street in rebellion and started from scratch a long time ago.
