What do you use for sights?
« on: November 11, 2006, 09:02:34 AM »
Just curious about what type sights everyone is using, whether full size or scale. Original, reproduction, homemade, none, etc.

4.5" Mortar - I prefer to use a forward observer.

2.25 inch mortar.

To check for elevation, I stick a magnetic angle measurer on a piece of 1x2 steel tubing and slide it down the bore.

To aim, I slide a 3 foot long handled cleaning sponge down the bore and see where it is pointing.

Neat, thanks for the replys and photos. I have a 1/4 scale coehorn which is sized for golf balls. I've never tried to hit any type of target with it yet. I like to fire the hollow plastic practice balls in th back yard. The kids love to chase them.
Here is a photo of the pendulum hausse I made for our original 6 Pdr. gun. The photo was taken at this summer's Camp Grayling event.
