Crimson Trace Laser Grips on SRH 454 Casull
« on: November 12, 2006, 06:17:03 AM »
I am getting one of my 454 Casull Ruger Super Redhawk's barrel shortened to 4.25"...

This gun is to be used for up close and personal defense against dangerous wildlife in remote wilderness areas where I will be working alone most of the time.

Has anyone here used or installed the Crimson Trace LG 344 laser grips onto a Super Redhawk?

Any thoughts and experiences would be great.

We have played around with them on semi-auto pistols. I guess they take some getting used to..you can really see that red dot bouncing around it's almost distracting..we were trying to see if there was any advantage for speed shooting ( there was none) but as with anything practice makes perfect....and then theres the better to have and not need..rather than need and not have  ;)  I gather from your posts that your job puts you on the line from time to time so i guess I would have all of the equipment I could carry.
also they really tell on you if you have lousy trigger control that dot will shake like a leaf on a tree if your not smooth ( could be good for training) hope this helps - Kevin

I have to agree with a45gunslinger. It is very hard to get use to the laser bouncing around and people concentrate on it more than the target. Sure in an indoor range and no pressure is on you it is manageable, but in a dangerous situation the last think I would want is to think, where is that red dot at. Get the gun and use the best thing it comes with, open sights.

I have tried the laser and I for one think they are not a good as advertised. Also hard to see in daylight.

I don't think I'd ever get used to having a big bore handgun with a laser sight pointed at me!!  :D  You want to talk about intimidation?  My guess is that about 95% of the BGs on the planet would scorch their shoe soles gett'n away from such an item!
