Rock Chucker Question
« on: November 12, 2006, 08:58:56 AM »
What is the milled slot for on the front of a rock chucker? The one at the top of the frame running vertically with the two threaded holes.

handyman06,
That is where an attachment called an auto prime tools fits.  It is a tube that is filled with primers.  They are fed one at a time into the regular priming mechanism that is with the press when it is purchased.  The auto priming tool is an option. Difficult to explain, but you could see one in any of the reloading supply catalogues or on the RCBS website.  They are O.K. but a bit tricky to get setup correctly so the primer feeds into the seating tool that comes with the press.  I just use the Lee Auto Prime and go that route.  Good-luck...BCB

BCB is right.  It's crap.  It sounds like you've already got a priming tool that you use, keep it up, anything is better than that, even doing it the 'lee-loader' way.

I took one look at the priming mechanism on my Rockchucker when I first got it and thought "they must be joking!" I've never used it.

I used the one on mine for a while, but bought a hand primer so I could feel the primers going into the primer pocket since I couldn't feel them with the priming mechanism. I like the hand primer better.  ;D
