got a doe with the sidekick

Got to go on a management hunt near my home on nov 3rd.  Was able to kill a small doe with my sidekick. another hunter had killed a doe about 100 yards from me, and he and 2 of his friendsdecided to celebrate by "hootin and hollerin" as my grandma used to say. I had just about decided every deer in the area had run off from all the noise when I saw a small doe sneaking up the hill towards me. She was watching the 3 "screamers". when she got about 50 yards from me she looked directly at me and I shot her at the base of the throat. ( The screamers were not in line) She flipped over on her back and never moved. After I shot the screamers started yelling "were right here! were right here!" I told them it was ok, I had known where they were the whole time. (how could I not?) Anyway, I have mixed feelings about the hunt, (though the meat is great!) but I am extremely happy with the sidekick. Oh , by the way my load is 2 50gr pyrodex pellets and a hornady saboted 240 gr xpt.

We get too hung up on trophy racks!
Sounds like a great hunt and a great shot!
You stayed put and let them push a deer to you and you made a quick kill. Who needs to hoop and holler?? Just thank God for the enjoyment of the outdoors and enjoy the roasts and steaks from a healthy doe.
Sounds to me like a pretty awesome hunt!  ;)

Not sure why you  have mixed feelings...great shot quick kill....I have a different mind set when I hunt different areas some I will see other hunters and that will be just part of the hunt other areas would be  a solitary thing and seeing someone else a real fluke. Just take away the best parts of the hunt leave the rest behind.

Bingo!!!! I remember those days 50 years ago when it was an accomplishment to get a spike of 4 point every couple of years or so.
I have been lucky to shoot some nice bucks, but none ranks higher in satisfaction than a small doe I may shoot. Nothing aggrivates me more than oneupmanship, over who shot the biggest antlered buck, (when largely it is a crapshoot anyway). I hate it when people jump around high fiving, etc. over putting a hole in an animal.... Please!!! It's all about woodmanship, and using the whole deer. Congratulations on your deer... Enjoy the hunt. Pay little attenion to showoffs!!!

I agree, and don't worry about those yahoo's acting in a juvenile way. As long as your shot was in a considered and safe direction try to ignore thier actions and pray that some day they mature....<><.... :)

Thanks guys, appreciate the kind words. now that I look back on it,I did have a very good time. I got to camp out the night before, cooked breakfast over a open fire, about froze my rear end off, made a good shot and have been eating some excellent venison. Whats not to like? Actually my wife and I have been laughing over those guys antics ever since it happened.

It sounds as if you had a great time single action and congratulations, it does sound like a trip any one of us here would be happy to look back on, and to laugh about it and enjoy the memory with your wife, priceless!!!....<><.... :)
