sale interchangeable barrels at gun shops and make it a option to make it a single shot pistol with short barrels and pistol grips sorta like the encore! more options on customization and what y'all listed

I'd like a 30/30 that looks like the Buffalo classic, 26 inch barrel and buckhorn rear sight. Call it   "The Homesteader".
A handi rifle in 17 mach IV or .222 for rabbits and foxes...

I will put in my list of wants that I will pay money for...

.25-35
.25-20
.32-20
.22 Hornet
.32 H&R Magnum  (Kind of fitting don't you think)
.218 Bee
.50-70

I want all in longer barrels. I don't want something the length of a kid's gun. I own a hack saw if I want a short barrel. That is why the only two H&Rs that I own are the 45-70 BC and the 38-55 Target.

H&R should go back and clean up some of their barrel design problems before they start on any new barrels though. If they don't have a competent design engineer they could hire a consultant to approve the designs.

Learn to make the twist fast enough - no more 38 twist 44 cals  (44 mag)
No more oversize bores  (several calibers including 38-55)
No more chambers that will not accept a groove diameter bullet be cause the groove diameter is at the SAAMI max (especially 38-55)

No crying SAAMI permits it to be wrong. Make the designs work ...

Seems like we've done this before, with none  of the most popular requests being granted.  Oh well, maybe they'll listen this time.

1. Lower profile hammer so a scope doesn't have to be mounted SO DARN HIGH above the gun.

2. Do whatever it takes to eliminate the need for sending the gun to the factory to be fitted for a new barrel.

3. Include front and rear fiber optic sights on turkey barrels.  Or at least offer such a barrel as an accessory barrel.  The front-bead-only sight just doesn't cut it any more, ever since advances in ammo effectiveness dramatically increased the kill range.

4. Offer more calibers in your stainless version.

5. The synthetic stocks make way too much noise when walking through brush.  Other gun makers offer synthetic stocks that don't make so much noise.  Can't yall do the same?

6. Trash the pump, semi-auto, and O/U lines.  These Chinese imports cheapen the image of a storied gunmaker such as H&R.  Stick to, and improve, what you do best: single shots.

7. Offer the TDC in 28 gauge.

i'd like a place in Canada where we could acess the barrel program. also offer the .303 br. rimmed cartridge with abit more power than 30-30. not high psi either. ejection is better than extraction

7-30 Waters
257 Roberts (I would  more than likely and easily turn this into a rimmed version)
222
221 FB
218 Bee
20 Killer Bee
17 Squirrel and or 17 AH
and maybe a 30 TC

Other than that I am content
Oh wait.... Also would like to see a vent rib for the 28 ga I want to buy with replaceable chokes... I see Scheels All Sports was selling a nice break open with a vent rib for only 120 bucks (12 & 20 ga only) It was a bit heavy but I still liked it!!!

Still wondering why H&R doesn't chamber for THEiR OWN round...the .32 H&R magnum. It sure seems that that round would be nice
as short range coyote medicine and the occasional groundhog.

Perhaps a nice truck gun , esp if combined with another barrel..

n.e.f. should have a biuld-a-gun program
« Reply #164 on: December 17, 2007, 09:59:04 AM »
I think it would sell and could use what they do all ready instead of  buy the rifle then sending it back . just have an order form pick primary barrel, additional barrels ,prefered stock/forearm recoil or butt plate  order though you local gun shop
Make mine a 30-30 green  laminated stock set 22" 12 ga mod barrel and a butt plate  that would cover everything I want to shoot
A guy can hope can't he

As you can see from this 6 page "wish list" from the FAQs, it's not the first time a custom shop has been asked for, keep dreamin, it's been on several wish lists over the  years!!

I think it would be great if they offered a custom department that offered all your wishes. A division that could see what a handi truly is and stop hiding behind some specs. I think they should offer all the things we send them out for.

1. Stock that fit the metal correctly and is better contoured
2. Optional steel for the trigger guard and forend iron
3. More choices in barrel lengths
4. Availability of unchambered barrels for custom jobs ( I know, "spit in one hand and wish in the other......")
5. Steel front sight ramp with dovetail and Lyman peeps

Here is my meager list of desires....

-Rimfire and Centerfire capability (I would love to have a .22Magnum or .22LR one minute and a shotgun the next!)
-Why different shotgun barrels? Why not offer chamber inserts?
-Break open handgun? Can we say "Instant Market Success" and "Thompson Competitor"?

I would like to see 32 H&R mag or 32-20 in a 22" bbl
.35Rem would be an excellent addition as well as a long barreled 30-30 along the lines of the buffalo classic.

False tangs that would make it easy to mount tang sights would awesome.

I have not weighed in on this yet so here goes.
#1 Selective extractor/ejector
#2 Make the Hinge Pin removable + hole in the barrel instead of a slot - AKA T/C. This would effectively end the fit problems of the fore end so the fore end could float on the barrel and not touch the frame.
#3 A custom shop for sure with stock; sights; trigger guard; and cartridge options

And now a few cartridges

32-20 or H&R 32 Mag or better yet a 327 Mag
30-40 Krag
A 6.5mm something (260 or a Swede maybe)
35 Remington
375 Win
307 Win
356 Win
Just to name a few; with the exception of the 35 Rem and a 6.5mm they are all rimmed ;D

I like the long bareled .30-30 ("Homesteader") idea,
And the longer bbls. for ALL calibers as an option, with expanded choices, some chamberings as special order... Hell, they could stock reamers, couldn't they?
And metal t/g and spacer,
And quiet synthetic stocks,
And  better fit and contour in the wood to frame fit... those over-fat wrists, especially on BC's,Target Models & checkered Ultras are to be ashamed of!
(Truth is, they're all only semi-fitted! ::))
AND, since we're talking wood, how about a high straight combed buttstock, classic style?! ???  Eighty-six the Monte Carlos!  :P
