I had two of those.....in WIn. '85, pre 1900, still the ne plus ultra IMHO.
FWIW, Harry Pope said that 'all else being equal' a round barrel should be the better. I know that a nicely tapered, or swamped oct. is a thing of beauty when the length and weight is right.
I also know that short, stout, rigid barrels are 'on the line' for a reason.
But, most of us are in this for more than the 'utility', and the thing has to look good to us to really enjoy it.
These actions are the most affordable platform to build up a 'dream' rifle for most of us, too. I had engaged in dialogued long ago (when they came out with the 38-55 TM) with the 'main man' at the time about why they should make the TM in 32-40. Well, we know how much influence I had........
