What is the best hold to shoot this bohemoth in the field. It's sooooo heavy! Do you still use a two handed grip or some other type hold. I shot it off a monopod yesterday and completely lost accurracy. I need some advise from someone who has shot one of these. I held a raging bull the other day and it feel alot lighter than the 22 hornet.

Raging Hornet is going to be heavier than the Bull due to the larger bore of the Bull.

As to hold? I would use a rest of sorts like your mono-pod. Where were you putting the pod on the gun? Resting on the barrel might affect accuracy. Is there room just in front of the trigger guard? A sitting position with your elbows on your knees might work as well. Any handgun silouette shooters in your area? They could help a bunch.

Ok, now that I've rambled a bit. How do you like your Raging Hornet? Any complaints gripes or praises for it? For some reason I think those things are cool as are the Raging Bee and Thirty. Are you using a scope? Heck, gimme any info you want to give up.

I put a cheap red dot on it today. I haven't sighted it in but did shoot it to see how the grouping was. It was much much better. I'm going to order a good scope for it now. I think I can get alot out of the gun once I can get to a range and use a rest.

I would really like to hear of any and all experiences with your RH.

I'll try to scan some photos from a book on handgun silouette shooting to give you some ideas on holds. This might take awhile, I need to scan book at one place and e-mail them to myself, THEN post them here.

Nixter I just shot the hornet from a rest finally and got 2" groups at 25 yds. I thought it was good for a cheap red dot and my shooting skills. I haven't fell in love with the big pistol yet. They may not be my thing. I sell/trade alot of guns and if I don't get a better feeling on this one it will probably be next. Too big and bulky for me.

those big puppies have made me look everytime i see them , id own one if i could afford it , i love to shoot hornets in rifles at groundpiggies i ohio, always thought they would be fun, iam enjoyin readin all aboutthem , maybe someday when am rich and not so damn good lookin hahhaha

Mine is set up with a bushnell 2x6 power elite 3200, it's a great scope but the mount that came with it is terrible. I had to mill it to make it sit level and snug on the gun.
I shoot silhouette so I know the creedmore position and it works well with this gun also. I lie on my back and support my head with my left hand by putting my fingertips on the ground behind my head and putting my head on my forearm. I use a blast shield on my left leg and rest the gun against my leg. This works good with this scope haveing alot of eye relief.
It shoots 3 inch groups at 100 yards, but you can't do it over and over again because the trigger pull is so bad on this gun. Is there a way to cheaply improve the trigger on the raging hornets.

Have had a Raging hornet for a couple of years or longer, and like it. Came with a good single action trigger pull, double sucks, but never shoot double action. Shoot off of shooting sticks, or anything I can use for a rest. Has a 2 x 8 Weaver in Weaver rings, gun came with mount. Thought about milling under lug down to cut weight. Bought a Tracker with 12" barrel in 218 bee that comes with barrel tapered that way, and left hornet as it came from factory. Did not see that much advantage to metal under barrel being gone. Sold the 218 bee but kept the hornet. It is a fun gun to shoot little critters with, easy to handload for, and shoots better than a revolver is suppose to. From a rest it will smoke chipmunks well past 50 yards, and has killed groundhogs past 100 yards. I feel like I have got my moneys worth in it. Wish I could say that about some of the other guns I have bought and traded for over the years.

I don't have the Hornet, but do have the Raging Bee.

I have not taken it out in the field yet, but it is too heavy to off hand it. I will use a shooting stick for it.

Hey fishman, you should get better groups then 2" at 25 yds. I get 1" or better at 100 yds. Not much difference in the Hornet and .218 Bee I should think. The scope helps these old tired eyes. Also, do you reload for the Hornet?

I don't have a Hornet in handgun, but do have one in a CZ rifle. These old cartridges are fun to shoot.

Both the Raging Hornet and Bee are on my hit list when I have the cash. When I have the cash I can't find a deal on the guns and vice versa...

Perhaps the end of the first quarter of '07 I can take my bonus from work and get one.

I don't know about the Hornet, but the Raging Bee is not being made anymore. You should be able to find one though I should think. good luck. I know you will enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

The only "Raging" revolver left in the Taraus stable is the Bull.

The Raging Hornet, Raging Bee and Raging Thirty have all been discontinued. As I scan the auction sites, all I see are that prices are going up and pickings are slim.

All is not lost though, rumor has it there are 4 NIB Raging Bee's in NY. Now all I need is for those to stay there until my bonus hits. Of course there is the now discontinued Single-Six Hunter that has recently caught my eye.

Either the 17 or 22 convertible would be sweet.

Oh well, I'll see what happens to turn-up when/if I have the cash.

Anyone else with experiences with the Raging Taurus's, Hornet, Bee or Thirty?

That problem with the brass is something. Never heard of that before. Let us know what Winchester says.

Don't worry about the difference in handgun vs. rifle. The data is good for both. I tried the IMR 4198 and got some good results. But you can get some nice results using the medium burn powders like W296 or H110. I us a pull down surplus powder, WC820, and get the best results. Give one of these powders a chance and see if they work for you.

Hey Sniper, few questions for 'ya.

Were the split necks you found in the Win brass before you even loaded them? As in right out of the bag?

Did you find your Raging Hornet on-line and have it transfered or did you just go to your dealer and say "Find me this"? If you remember which distributor (if that is the case) it came from, could you post it here?

Ps, I'm leaning towards the Hornet as the brass is cheaper and I already have two rifles in the Hornet.

The split necks were new out of the bag!! I notice them while prepping them!

I just talked to Win. yesterday and there replacing them but it will be up 2-3 weeks yet

They told me 2 weeks ago that they were going to test them so I take it they were found to be bad?they just stated on my answering machine that new ones are to be sent out.
This is the dealer that found my gun. Call or email and ask for Dan. He should remember the transaction.

For reloading the Hornet and Bee, Littlegun, and AA-1680 are both good powders in handguns and rifles.

Has anyone seen the new Raging Bull in .223 Rem. I just got a new copy of the Blue Press by Dillion Precision and one was pictured in it. It was on display at a trade show. I called Taurus and asked if or when it would be available and was told late 2007 or early 2008. It had a ten inch compensated barrel. A scope was mounted on it and the article said it had a 7 shot cylinder. I have the Raging Hornet, Bee, and Thirty. Would like to try the .223.

Have not seen anything on the 223, but have had a couple of friends call and ask about it. Post any info you get on it, if it shoots like the Hornet, I would like to have one.
