Well so far the bore has been cleaned well with normal nitro powder solvent and copper remover. The old bedding was removed as it was found to be coming lose from the wood and the bedding re-done using Brownells Glass Bed. The barrel has been re-crowned and the complete scope mounting system has been changed so it's now got Weaver bases and rings instead of the original Parker-Hale bases and rings. As the scope situation is taking longer to resolve than I thought it would I am considering taking a scope off another rifle.

   I did recieve a replacement Nikko Sterling Platinum 3-9x40 AO scope in the post this mornign from J.S. Ramsbottom who I brought one off but this one too has the same fault when I checked it using the dining room table so it's back in it's box waiting for Monday so I can post it back to them. Ramsbottom's are fine and will refund or sort out a deal to replace it however I have told them after three faulty Nikko Sterling's I don't want nothing more to do with them so another brand will be the choice. It's just which one? at the moment and I have the weekend to think about it.

I bought a new brand name scope a while back, expecting it to be a working good scope. The first time I used it was on a custom 270, The boresighting was almost spot on so sight in took less than 10 rounds and two 3 shot groups were very small. I took the rifle on a elk hunt in wyoming and the trouble started. during the sight in check the scope started two spotting meaning two groups around 2 inches apart. and it took 20 rounds to figure this out. I ended up hunting with another rifle also a custom mauser in 308. I send the scope back to the manufacturer, when it finally returns I put it on my 7MM Remington magnum. This time I run 40 rounds thru the rifle and around the 20th shot it all begins again. Exactly the same two grouping even to the angle and placement of the groups. They must have done nothing to the scope and this cost me 30 150 grain 270 shells loaded with partitions and 40 160 grain partitions out of my 7MM magnum. Should I send it back or throw it away? Should I waste a couple more boxes of shells on it? I should have ordered a Leupold in the first place.  Funny thing I had a 3x9 Bushnell Banner so I put it on the 7MM RM and it has worked perfectly for more than 100 rounds.
