500 S&W 2 3/4" magnum
« on: November 18, 2006, 04:04:06 PM »
I am looking for any ballistic information for the S&W 2 3/4" barreled 500 magnum. I am interested in any bullet weights and any brand of bullets. I just haven't see any info for bullets shot out of the short 2 3/4" bl . I would think if one could learn to handle the recoil, it truely would be the ultimate in a back up gun for bear country. Thanks ahead of time for any info.

I do not have any ballistics but it sure is fun to shoot !!!!!!
My buddy brought his over last weekend and we ran 175 rounds of cast bullets through it . Everything from 365 Grain SPGC   through 700 Grain WFNGC  .
Didn't do any target shooting on paper but used frozen 1 gallon milk jugs at various yardage's .They explode when one is hit  :D :D
We also shot it at dusk and what a fire ball  :o :o
Enjoy yours .

I suggest you go to www.smith-wesson.com and search for their official bear country survival pack X frame revolver kit.  It looks very nice.

I agree it is a real banger. I like shooting it too, but some people just don't understand what real fun is.

I agree, I agree and I agree  ;D ;D ;D :D
Went out again yesterday with my PC Hunter 10.5 and did my share of global warming with many rounds launched at misc. targets  . The temp was hanging around the teens and when I was finished I was warmer  ::) I must of raised the outside temp with my hot shots ?????
