Got an 8 point buck opening morning Indiana season. Almost wasnt fair at 50 yards with an Omega. He went down in his tracks.

Way to go! I took my wife with me opening day in Illinois, bang she got a buck, with my gun. Next day took a friend, and bang another buck, the last day, took still another friend, and you guessed it,bang another buck! :( I never even got a shot(including a doe) all three days./ I guess I'm a better guide, than a hunter, but the second season is comming up. ;D

Speaking of dragging out...my buck dressed out at 165 and had to drag him about 450 yards by myself...by the time i got him loaded in the truck I know he weighed about 350 lbs.  ;)

Sorry for the delay in replying. I was using the 250 gr. Shockwave with 100 gr. Triple 7 (2 pellets).
Was planning on using 150 grains of Triple 7 but had a limited number of pellets to work with and no extra cash to buy more pellets before sight-in so decided to go with 100 gr. this year, the buck I shot couldnt tell the difference between 100 and 150 grains, he still dropped in his tracks. ;D
When taxes come in this year I think Im gonna get one of those Nikon Omega scopes and see how well they work.

I have one and it is a great scope. Works as advertised.

You may decide that 100 gr of 777 is better than 150 gr. That 150 gr load of 777 has quite a bit of recoil.
Aim small don't miss.

I don't think the recoil is bad at all. I have shot 30 to 40 rounds and no sore shoulder.

I agree with redhawk on the recoil issue...yes, 150 grains is a stout load but in the Omega it just doesnt seem like it kicks near as bad as you think it would. I think the design of a guns stock contributes alot to how much recoil is felt. My Omega loaded with 150 grains feels more like a big push than an actual 'kick'. Shooting a 250 grain bullet helps in the recoil too than say if you were shooting a projectile 300-500 grains. I saw T/C CEO Greg Ritz hunting Cape Buffalo in africa with an Encore and he was using 500 grain bullets over a 150 grain charge. Now I imagine the recoil with a bullet that heavy is going to be twice what you feel normally.
The hardest kicking muzzleloader I ever shot was a White .50 cal with 120 grains Pyrodex and a 385 grain lead slug. I dont care who you were that rifle would lay you down over the top of it when you shot it.
