Can anyone direct me to information to allow me to duplicate a leather gun sock/case/rug that would approximate what would have been used by an 19th century Hawkens owner? I seem to recall Redford using one in Jeramiah Johnson. I'm NOT looking for the last word in authenticity, just something in-the-spirit. I took my first black powder deer with a roundball out of a Lyman Hawken kit and thought I'd put the hide to use.
