Weird Looking Animal
« on: November 20, 2006, 05:34:51 PM »
While hunting on my place a few miles Southwest of Abilene, Texas last week-end, my son killed an animal he first thought was a coyote, it is the strangest looking thing I have ever seen.  It resembles a coyote to some extent, but there is a lot of differences in to two.  This thing was hairy from the head to about the middle of the front legs, from there back there was no hair, it smelled awful.  It had a head simular to a coyote, but the canine teeth were exceptionally long.  The front legs were considerably shorter than the rear legs.  It was chasing a doe down a road (trail) that we use to drive in and out of the place.  It was torn up pretty bad from the 139gr 6.5x55 bullet to the middle of it's back.

I have done some searching on the internet tonight and found something that looks kinda like it, it is called a Chupacabra, I understand one was killed recently in (near) Tyter, Texas, and last year a lady living near Baird, Texas killed one in her chicken house. I called Game and Fish to come out and take a look at it, but their response was, "it's probably a sick coyote."

Anyone else seen/ know of anything like this?

Chupracabra?  Never heard of it????   It does sound a bit like a sick coyote.  Did you take any pics?  Could you post them up?

Ummm, I don't think those really exist..   This from Snopes.com  the place where you find out whether or not some urban legend is real or not...

chupacabra
The chupacabra ("goat sucker") is an animal said to be unknown to science and systemically killing animals in places like Puerto Rico, Miami, Nicaragua, Chile, and Mexico. The creature's name originated with the discovery of some dead goats in Puerto Rico with puncture wounds in their necks and their blood allegedly drained. According to UFO Magazine (March/April 1996) there have been more than 2,000 reported cases of animal mutilations in Puerto Rico  attributed to the chupacabra.

Puerto Rican authorities maintain that the deaths are due to attacks from groups of stray dogs or other exotic animals, such as the panther, illegally introduced in the island's territory. The director of Puerto Rico's Department of Agriculture Veterinary Services Division, Hector Garcia, has stated that there is nothing unusual or extraordinary about the cases they've observed. One veterinarian said "it could be a human being who belongs to a religious sect, even another animal. It could also be someone who wants to make fun out of the Puerto Rican people."

Like other creatures in the cryptozoologist's barnyard, the chupacabra has been variously described. Some witnesses have seen a small half-alien, half-dinosaur tailless vampire with quills running down its back; others have seen a panther like creature with a long snake-like tongue; still others have seen a hopping animal that leaves a trail of sulfuric stench. Some think it may be a type of dinosaur heretofore unknown. Some are convinced that the wounds on animals whose deaths have been attributed to the chupacabra indicate an alien presence. However, they do not attribute the "mutilations" to the aliens themselves, but to one of their pets or experiments gone awry. Such creatures are known as Anomalous Biological Entities [ABEs] in UFO circles.

The Chupacabra is a myth.  Like GB said sounds like a cayote with the mange.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I know the Chupacabra is a myth, but the animal was so strange looking I guess I was searching for somethin new.  There have been several strange looking "dogs"  killed in Texas over the past few years.  I kinda thought it may be a coyote that was burned in one of the recent range fires and had the strange look from scar tissue.  Look at the one in the attached link, the one my son killed is simular, but the head appears to be larger.  I do have pictures, but can't get them from the camera to the computer.  I will see if I can get that done in the next few days.
