Calhoun County. Closest town is Jacksonville. I'm about the same distance from both Anniston and Gadsden but go to Gadsden more than Anniston given a choice.

Nope never have. In fact I don't go to any of the trade day/flea market things even tho they are all around me. I do shoot skeet regularly at the Owl Hollow Range just outside of Gadsden.

If you're close enough it's a really nice range to shoot at. The state runs the rifle/pistol range and they have several covered firing lines for different distances. Our club runs the skeet and trap ranges there. We're open 8-noon Wednesday and Saturday and noon to 4PM on Sunday at the skeet/trap range and the rifle and pistol area is open all day every day I think. It's a really first rate shooting area.

do you have to have an alabama hunting lns to use this range may run down there and check it out.

No a hunting license isn't needed. I think that on the rifle range you're supposed to pay $2 or so to use it but since there is no one there to collect it I suppose it's a put it in envelope and drop in box kinda deal. I've honestly not shot on the rifle/handgun range since the state took it over. I have a 100 yard range in my back yard so driving the 24 miles to do what I can do in my back yard makes no sense. But I do use the skeet range most every Wednesday morning and about as often as not on Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons but I'm less regular on those days than on Wednesday mornings.

I'll have to look for you shooting skeet since I go to Owl's Hollow a lot myself except on the rifle ranges. I like to shoot on the 200 yard range there.

You have to have a hunting license to use the range. There's no-one there to check you, but in case they did, it might be wise to have the license with you just in case.

You can find me there most Wednesday and Saturday mornings and often on Sunday afternoons. Stop over next time you're there at those times. I'm usually gone by 10:30-11:00 in the mornings and by 2:30-3:00 in the afternoon.

I went to the police academy at Jacksonville before they moved it over to Ft. Mcellan (however you spell it) I really liked it over there. Pretty area.

What a small world. I went to Webster Chapel school before it was closed and turned into a fire station. I went to Pleasant Valley for a year or two.

My father, Glen Williams, has FOGGY HOLLOW bluegrass festival at his farm in Webster Chapel. The rest of my family lives across the mountain in Hokes Bluff.

Ever go swimming at the Mill Branch? Dang that is some cold water.

Dang Whiskey, me and you is nearly next door neighbors then. At least you is pretty close althou we do have members here that are closer still. Some have dropped by to visit from time to time.

Do that, me and the missus would enjoy that I'm sure. Do you ever drive on Hwy 204 between J-ville and US431? If so that's my fairly new pond dead in the middle of that mile long straight away. OK off the side of road not on the actual road fer yew wiseacres.

Bill, I kept thinking you lived on AL 144, didn't know that you lived on 204. I drive through 204 every so often. I'll try to blow the horn and wave next time I go through that way. You live on the right or left coming from 431?

I'm still holding you to going over and scouting Choccolocco one day. Could we scout some of it out on four wheelers?

When you come from US431 I'm on the left. Stop in some time as you drop by.

Just came back from a ride on my four wheeler. A gal in her late 20s-early 30s just ran off the highway and landed in the ditch of the neighbor across the highway from me. Simply amazing how many folks have wrecked in the straight stretch of road in front of my house. I'm glad she went on on that side rather than into my pond.

about the only time I have ever driven 204 is between J'ville and Pleasant Valley Road. I remember that there is a gas station at the intersection and a funeral home on the right before you get to J'ville.

I haven't lived there in about 20 years. I lived in Gadsden for 1 year, about 6 years ago so I refreshed my memory some. Usually I am only there for holidays and bluegrass festivals.

Actually this weekend I am passing through. Me and the family are moving from Sarasota, FL to Clarksville, TN. I have to drive up my truck with my jeep in tow this trip. I am stopping at my dad's to visit and spend the night.

Hopefully being closer in Tennessee will allow us to visit more often.
