 I just won a GunBroker auction for a Savage model 219c 30-30...I need any input on the factory groove on top of the barrel...(For scope?)...Actually any info or links to info will be appreciated...It will be neat to load 30-30 with some pointy projectiles...

You did well.  I have one in 30-30 and a 22 Hornet rechambered to a K Hornet.  Great rifles.  Try 130 gr. Hornady Single Shot pistol bullets in the 30-30.  Behind a charge of 3031 they are very accurate and do a great job on deer.  I had a gunsmith friend mount a Williams Guide peep on the 30-30 and a fiber optic front.  My eyes are pushing 70 and not that good for open sights.  The K Hornet came with a Weaver Side Mount on the barrel, so that is scoped now.  Again you got a great rifle.

 Is the groove on the barrel for a scope? If so is it a standard Weaver type?

 I loaded some Hornadty 165gr BTSP with 35gr 4350...Can't wait to take it to the range...I also found a box of 30-30 accelerator 55gr .22 sabot cartridges...Should be fun... :)

The groove is for a tip off mount, like on rimfire rifles. Good find, you will enjoy the rifle

I have owned and enjoyed several over the years in 30-30 and .22 Hornet.  Last one I sleeved the 30-30 barrel to .25 caliber and rechambered to 25-35.  As you by now know or will soon find out the triggers are shotgun triggers and there is not much you can do about that.  The 130 gr .30 cal bullets make a nice load and the Weaver style .22 rings will work.  My experience is that heavy (hot) loads in either 30-30 or Hornet do not shoot well and stick to 45 gr bullets or lighter in the Hornet-twist is 1:16.  Have fun. 2520

I have the 'B' model but it has the grooves like yours. I found that they didn't hold well under recoil so I drilled and tapped the bbl for a Weaver base. Works great. This is a neat and very accurate rifle.

 I finally did go to the range with it...i did not get to discover it's accuracy definitely because as the former reader describes the scope mounts will not secure under recoil...I don't know that I want to D&T this gem but I will just use it with open sights...The buckhorn is elevation adjustable and the front post is easily defined so I will see how that goes next trip...
