You did well. I have one in 30-30 and a 22 Hornet rechambered to a K Hornet. Great rifles. Try 130 gr. Hornady Single Shot pistol bullets in the 30-30. Behind a charge of 3031 they are very accurate and do a great job on deer. I had a gunsmith friend mount a Williams Guide peep on the 30-30 and a fiber optic front. My eyes are pushing 70 and not that good for open sights. The K Hornet came with a Weaver Side Mount on the barrel, so that is scoped now. Again you got a great rifle.
