8/32" to 10/32" ?????

first of all....  why the ODD size threads on these Sidekick ramrods???  Very frustrating..... I've had mine now for two years.... LOVE the gun (especially now that I've refinished stock and free floated barrel)......   but this ramrod issue has been bugging me.

Is there conversion piece that can be added so I can use the standard attachments made for muzzleloaders?

I don't know of an adapter but can you redrill and tap the hole?

ummm don't know if I could or not....  well .... no i don't think so considering the small size of the rod piece where the attachment screws in.

I got mine from Midsouth too,  I just can't find the adapter anywhere on they're website: www.midsouthshooterssupply.com

Mine is made by Eastern Maine Shooting Supllies P/N EMSS1345.

And you're right, I think it was only a couple bucks.

Maybe give them a call and see if the item is still in stock.

Now this is a simple fix that we should all get on H&R/NEF to correct. I don't have a ML made by them yet but have heard this problem discussed for a couple of years now. I would think and expect that H&R/NEF management could rectify this with just a simple phone call and if not then they might reconsider calling themselves "management" for they are not managing for the best interests of the company or the product. Is anyone interested in starting some sort of a concerted effort to change this glaring yet simple to correct error? Perhaps we can each chip in a penny or a small percentage of a penny to pay for the phone call or the cost of the change!!!....<><.... ::) ;D :)

   Mid South does have them, look under cleaning supplies- tip adapters-$1.55. Man Cabellas are making a killing at $11.95!

I agree..... seems like NEF should have fixed this problem by now!!!!  I know it's minor but it's a nuisance and annoying.  Thanks for the help guys!!

Ther real fix is to replace the lame ramrod with a good one from Hubbards (scroll down to ramrod post on this site). The one from Hubbards is solid high quality brass and has the correct threads and the end that contacts the bullets is relieved for the pointed nose bullets that are popular now. I have one and it is great!! It also ends up two inches longer than the stock rod when extended which gives you a better grasp on the rod when loading or cleaning. I bought the wrong one first and sold it to another guy with shorter barrel and we both love the new rod. H&R should have made their rod like this one in the first place.

I drilled mine out and tapped to 10-32 on my lathe would not try it by hand

Has adapters and lots of other goodies.  I prefer the 8X32 acessories because they fit more guns.  10X32 is used mostly on T/C products and some T/C clones.

When I bought my adapter I thought someone told me Eastern Maine was going out of business or getting hard to order their parts.  If you can find one I would snatch it up quickly.  Actually, I think I am going to order one of Hubbard's replacement collapsible rods and be done with the poor choice NEF made with the original.

Believe me;  You will love the Hubbard rod. It is so much better than the stock one, much stronger and two inches longer when extended.

I know it may be a little more expensive ($35 delivered), but I got the Hubbard ramrod replacement. This has the 10/32 thread as well as a bullet seater that is less flat and fits more types of bullets. The ramrod is much more beefy. It is brass, and gives a different look than the black one though. I can post some pics when I figure out how to do it. Note that the threads that hold it in the closed position are attached to the bullet seat end, so if you replace it with another attachement you have to put the original back to lock it in the closed position. I have a range rod and plan on using the Hubbard rod for hunting only. So if you are considering a rod replacement, the $11 you spend on the 10/32 adapter will get you 1/3 of the way to the price of the replacement.

Hi all.  I am considering the Hubbard ramrod for my Huntsman but would like to see a couple of better pictures of it before I commit to getting one.  The picture on the website isn't all that good, at least not on my computer.  I currently carry a T/C breakdown rod but would be happier with one that fits in the proper place.  Broke my factory rod long time ago and have not replaced it.  My Huntsman is old but dang it shoots good.  So if any one has a good picture of the ramrod I would appreciate it.  Thanks.

If you can picture the stock rod only solid brass up to the point of the end which is about three inches long knurled aluminum. Believe me the rod is a beauty. The end has relief for pointed bullets and the thread is correct. It ends up two inches longer than the stock rod when extended and with the aluminum end you can grasp the rod without having to put your hand over the end of the rod. H&R should have made the stock rod just like this one.
