Congrats on getting a fine rifle in an excellent cartridge. I have several Remington Model 700 rifles and each one is very accurate. I don't own one of the exact models as yours, but I can tell you that the 700 is an excellent bolt action rifle. Let us know how she shoots. ;D

My 7-08 LSS Mtn. Rifle shot under MOA out of the box with several loads. For factory ammo it liked the Hornady Light Mag using the 139 BTSP best but shot the SST Lt. Mag load under an inch at 100 also.

Great rifle, I think you'll be very happy with it...I have the same one and love it.  Mine shoots the Remington Core-Lokts right at an inch, and I honestly haven't bothered to try anything else.  As you said, the fit and handling are great and I'm looking forward to many years of use.

I got mine this past Spring, and my freezer is packed after muzzleloader season, so I haven't taken a deer with it yet.  But, I previously owned an Encore in 7mm-08 and think it is a superb whitetail cartridge.

I got one in 280 Remington this year and dropped a pig with it in June. I'm getting .75" three shot groups with it. I like the rifle very much.

Mine is a DM which is handy out in the field. In developing loads and shooting at the range you just need to be sure to give the barrel plenty of time to cool between shot.

I have one in a 280 with DM topped with a 3x9 VARI X II Leupold. It's an accurate gun, well balanced and a joy to carry. It came with a real nice dark wood stock. I have since nicked it up a bit carrying it in the Pa. mountains.  But you buy them to use them. You can't go wrong with the gun.

I own a Mountain rifle chambered in the .280 Rem. Bought it when they 1st came out, '86 I believe, mounted a Luepold 2.5x8 in Redfield mounts and never looked back. Maintained it on a constant diet of Hornady 139gr spire pts and a healthy dose of IMR 4831. Swayed of the beaten path once and tried 160gr Nosler partitions. After an Elk I went back to the Hornadys. I own and hunt with quite a number of rifles, calibers etc, but when I need one that I know like the back of my own hand I choose My "go to" rifle, we all got em, the Mountain Rifle is mine. I might add this is a out of the box rifle, no tinkering with bedding, no messing with nothing! It just worked from day one. From coyotes to Elk and everything in between it got the job done. I won't get into the small boring groups that are possible with that "little lightweight, pencil thin" barrel. I'll just let you find that out for yourself. I also like the .280's little brother, good choice, Enjoy. CRASH87

I have the Remington 700 SPS in 7-08-the accuracy is unreal and differs very little from ammo make to ammo make but seems to like Winchester ballistic silver the best.
Made a mistake several years ago and bought the Rem mountain rifle in 30-06. I can't describe the recoil-it was torture. You got the right caliber for the rifle-good luck with it.

I have a remington mountain rifle in 270 caliber that was made in 1987.  If I wait between shots to stay with a cool barrel it will easily stay within one inch with most of my handloads.  My friend has one with a detachable magazine in 7mm08 that he has taken deer, moose, and carribou with.  He is very happy with that caliber.

I've been wanting a 260 rem for a couple years now and have been looking for a rem BDL that remington use to make but i haven't had any luck finding one. I'm thinking real hard about getting the mountsin rifle chambered in 260 because i know where a couple of those are. My only concern has been accuracy with the small barrel on the mountain rifle but after doing some research looks like most folks are getting great accuracy with the small barrel. The rem mountain rifle is definately a nice looking gun and the more i look and read about it the more interested i get.
