.577

Does anyone know the difference, if any between the .577 Snider and the .577 "bottleneck snider"?
Are they 2 different rounds?

Thanks

Neither I nor "Cartridges of the World" have ever heard of a ".577 bottleneck snider".

There is a "577/450 Martini Henry" which is basically the .577 Snider necked down to .450".  It obviously is differnt.
Anything bottlenecked is going to be different than the .577 Snider; since the Snider is not a bottlenecked cartridge.

I found out from a Dixie Gun Works gunsmith that you're exactly right. What goofed me up was their description of their basic case:

"For the nitro express shells; drawn case, measures 3 ¼” long. Use 210 large rifle primers. We recommend black powder only. Will make the following cases: .577-450 Martini Henry, .577 Nitro Express, 2 ¾” and 3” long, and .577 Bottleneck Snyder. Box of 20."
