What caliber would you choose?

I am looking to get a reminton pump or semi and I cant decide what caliber to get.I have a reminton bdl in 7mm rem mag that I hunt with now and I would like something a little more pleasant to shoot.I am going to look for a used gun first but after that I will go after a new one.I have never owned any of the chamberings that the new semi's or pumps are chambered in.I have shot a few 06's but thats as close as I have gotten with that caliber.I will use the gun for stand hunting and still hunting I am going to put a 2-7 nikon that I already have on this gun with leopold QR bases and rings. The farthest shot I would take with this gun would be 150 or so.Well there it is what would you guys and gals go for?

Personally I like the 30.06. In a Remington 7600 with a good pad it would hardly kick.

I gought a 742 in .30-06 with new synthetic stocks and a brand new mag today for 300.00.I bought it from a freind of mine that is also a gunsmith. He took it in on trade because it had a jamming problem. He found that the magazine had been bent up so he bought a new one and has a few box of shells through it and hasnt had any problems. He also said that it is a europeen style? It has the back of the reciever milled down kind of like a browning gold shotgun.

The 7mm-08 sounds fine to me, but you might prefer somethin' bigger, so they make 'em in .308 also.

You are never wrong with the 30-06. That said, I like the 308, supposedly a little less recoil and a little more accurate than the 06, well enough power for any deer and bigger at your max distance
