Only three?.... Hmmmmmmmm.......Well one has got to be a .22, and one a 45-70. Both Marlins.  Well it's easy so far.  Third one's easy too actually.  It's got to be a M99 and it has to be my favorite 99....a 250/3000.  Am I up to three already..........NO............... :(

OK, my 2 cents-

Browning BLR .22 -             Small game, plinking
Browning BLR  7mm/08 -      General all around big game, as well as long range (300 yards) varmints.  Don't plan on hunting brown bear..
Marlin 1894 .44mag -          Close range big game, self defense, good partner to my big bore handguns

Hello from Georgia,

For me, this seems fairly simple. All would be Marlin, since I have never had one let me down. The calibers are fairly predictable when trying to cover every game animal on our continene. they would be.

1. Marlin 39 .22. The takedown model I have is very accurate and will run through everything from the shorts to the Stingers. Very effective, and always predictable.

2. Marlin 336 30/30. I would choose the .35, but with the 30 caliber bullets available, this is truly a versitle gun. With hot loaded Nosler 150 gr. bullets it makes a very potent 2 shot rifle. Remember that with the tube magazine, placing pointy bullets right on the primer of the one in front of it could lead to more excitement than you can handle. I have loaded the 30/30 up to .308 WIN velocity, making it a true 300 yard gun. And, with the good ol 170 gr. round noses, you can have a bunch of shots.

3. Marlin 45/70. Anything on this planet can be taken with this gun. It has been proven on the African continent as a very capable dangerous game weapon. Loaded with some good handloads, it is hard to find a better short to mid range hunting rifle. Moose ? YES ! Elk ? Of course. Bears ? All of them up to and including the Kodiaks. And, it actually does make a fine varmint gun too ! Hey, watching a coyote take a 405 gr. in the shoulder is quite encouraging. And all this at 300 yards, come on ! How could ANYONE not love that ?

This is just the opinion of a good ol Georgia Boy. Good Luck, and have a great day.

Dave

.
1)  Winchester 9422.  Just because it's fun to shoot all day, through a single hole, for the price of a Slurpee.
2)  Marlin 1894 in .357.  The perfect mate to my Ruger GP100.  My traveling SHTF combo.
3)  Hmmmm.  Don't have a big-bore lever -- yet.  Probably the 338 Marlin Express.  'Course, my Cowboy heart is voting for the Marlin 1895 in 45/70.

Hey Charlie,   Make that third rifle a Savage lever in .308 Winchester, and you will have all you will ever need.   (And, you would have a Winchester, a Marlin, and a Savage.)  :-)

Michael Bane came up with an interesting idea: A Browning Lightweight '81 Takedown in .308: http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/firearms/detail.asp?value=003B&cat_id=034&type_id=011

Takes down to 21 inches, with .308 power, in a liberal friendly form: a perfect travel gun.

Hmmmmmm.

Henry H001 .22LR

Marlin 336 .30-30 or Marlin 1894 .44 Mag (can't make up my mind)

Marlin 1895 .45-70

If the limit were four I'd keep 'em all.

Guess I'd takem Winchester 9422M in .22 mag, Marlin 1894 in 44 mag. and last but not least my Marlin 1936 in 30-30.  Sure hate to leave the rest at home.

To respond to this question I only need to peek in the closet because I only own three lever actions.

All are Marlins: 30-30, .35 Rem., and .444.

Oh Boy that would hurt.

I would first let go of my Marlin Cowboy .45-70, then the 1876 .46-60, then the End of Trail 94 in .44 Mag, at last my Savage 99 in .30-30.

That would leave me with:

                                  Winney 94 in .30-30
                                  Browning B92 in .44 Mag
                                  Browning 1886 in .45-70

1. - .300 Savage Model 99

2. - .35 Remington Marlin 336

3.  - .358 Browning BLR

I wouldn't be unhappy if limited to these three.
