7/8" rings??
« on: November 27, 2006, 12:55:48 PM »
a friend of mine has a mount on his .410 shotgun for slug shooting..it's very old and have a scope in it thats very small...mounted in rings that we believe are 7/8"...the scope is currently mounted with shims inside the rings.....we were wondering if 7/8" mounts actually existed or if we are measuring wrong....and if they still make scopes in 7/8"...we know for sure it's not 1inch....and 7/8 works out to be about 22mm so that sounds odd also

Yes. Both 7/8" and 3/4" rings have been made for scopes in those diameters. Others commonly used have been one inch, 26mm and 30mm.

I have a Redfield Mount with 7/8 inch rings in the garage.  The rings are holding 2.5 power Noske scope.  It has a post for sighting.

I am guessing that my old 7/8" scope and 7/8" Redfield mounts are a least 60-70 years old.
