Another case of blaming the victim, then discrediting him by dredging up every little nit in his past. Name of intruder still not released several days later but victim's address publicized.

1. Mind their own business,
2. Stay off private propertly that does not belong to them (unless they have permission)
3. Do things properly

Then this could all be avoided. They seem to disregard the fact that the criminal (the man who was shot) was breaking the law. If he would have been within the law, it wouldn't have happened. Why does this fact not matter anymore?

I wonder what would happen if a rapist raped a woman with an STD? Could they sue the woman for not disclosing this information? This is the nonsense our world is coming to little by little...trying to be political and satisfy status que...and throwing out commen sense and our rights in the process.

I feel bad for the old man.  Why don't his neighbors help him with upkeep of his house?  Especially if they are aware of his situation.  The reporter, just like a lot of journalists these days, made it appear as though he deserved to be broken into.  It's shameful.

Worse yet the reporter made it appear like some odd way of thinking that one should defend themselves. 

"He seemed sweet" was one neighbors quote.  Like she just found out the guy was a Jeffrey Dahmer.

This news paper and writer need to be repmainded. There is no need to go into this mans life like they did. They may be liable for slander. I hope the man and his familly stand up to these discusting journalist. The people of this town need to tell this paper that this is inapproiate. This type of reporting is common all over the US.  He has a right to privacy.

So our homeowner is a elderly, reclusive not so neat house keeper that may have swore at students as a teacher several years ago. All this is irrelevent to the situation. The criminal, who's identity was protected to save his family any shame, was cleanly dealt with under state law. I fail to see the problem here. The story should have said simply "Home owner kills intruder" and then put a medal on him. One less scum criminal to bog down the court system for months or years only to get off claiming he thought the house was deserted while some liberal turd lawyer laughs all the way to the bank and our rights take another hit. I say "CLEAN SHOOT'.
