you can use up to a 348 grain bullet with 130 grains loose powder. When you go with bigger bullets, any smart person would lower their charge. could you imagine the kick of 130 grains powder and a 400+ grain slug? lol I dont know about you guys but that would put me flat on my back. The reason they "limit" you to 100 grains loose powder, most people think that 150 grains loose powder is the same as 150 grains pellets. Its just there for safety. Heck a lot of people think 150 grains loose triple 7 is the same as 150 grains pyrodex. 100-130 grain loose powder max. ...150 grain pellet load max. No bullet weight restrictions. I shoot the big 385's out of my rifle. Still prefer powerbelts. Pick up a winchester and you'll see the big difference in quality when u hold it to a cva. its okay guys, ive changed those TC users over to winchester. 8)

What other company has these 100 grain safety concerns or limits on bullet grain sizes?... none that I know of.

On what page of your Winchester owners manual does it state the allowance of 130 grains of loose powder?

Page 10. what bullet weight limits? they have no bullet weight limits. check out toby bridges website, a small girl shot a bear with a cva inline and 400 grain bullet.  Everyone knows when you use a bullet like that, you lower your charge. 100 grain safety concern isnt so. they recommend 100 grains for most accuracy. If you're looking in  a cva book give it, its a diff. ball game with winchester.

Can you please recite exactly what it says?

I'm not up-to-date on owners manuals, but prior to 2005, there was a restrictions listing on page 6.

To recite what the manual says for my winchester:
 .45 cal
min load 50
recommended 90-120
max. load 150

                           50 cal
    minload 50
 recommended 100-130
max load 150

 forgot to add that earlier

150 is for pellet loads.  Before i started shooting the 385s i emailed winchester for advice and told them my old load i was using of 120 grains pyro RS and the 295 powerbelt and they emailed back with detailed loads with loose powder. they recommended a charge of 100- 130 grains with 348 powerbelt and to drop charges a little if i use heavier bullets to calm the recoil.

i tried a 130grains but its to much and opens my patterns, once i dropped it to 120 i had the load i wanted.

Just remember that these Spanish made guns aren't proofed for anywhere near 150 grains of anything.  Maybe 1/2 that.

You have CVA flintlocks that will go off?  I don't like the Encore at all.  Even as a pistol it's hideous  I'm hoping S&W will drop the Encore and keep the Omega.

Won't happen, the Encore is T/C's bread and butter.

Not me, I would not consider a Winchester M/L over my Encore.  ;)

LOL yeah i know. Thats what they all said until  the Apex's went on sale at cabelas. Dang things sold out of stock before i could buy one! It tried out an encore but i just could not get that thing to work out for me. way to short and stubby and wasnt able to even get the sights in view. Plus i didnt like the price. I honestly cant see spending that much for a rifle that shoots one bullet. True you can change barrels but jeez! The barrels costs the price of an entire rifle.

Don't buy them, simple as that.  ;)
I have 4 complete Encores and all shot MOA at 100 yards. I sold 3 of my Encores to buddies and they also shoot like a dream.
