Triple 7 fffg?/Sight screw thread
« on: December 02, 2006, 04:07:01 AM »
The manual says that for BP, only ffg may be used in the huntsman. Should it be implied that the granulation must be the same for the substitutes? Has anyone tried Triple 7 fffg? I've read that to duplicate an ffg load, you should reduce fffg load by a least 10%.

Next question - Anyone know the thread pitch on the rear sight screws (size #6)? I'm trying to find filler screws.

You can use it I have a friend that does but he does reduce the charge by about 20%. I do not know the thread size on the screws. You can ask on the NEF forum the thread size. Quick may know.

Thread size on Handis is 6-48, I would expect the Huntsman to be the same, although older rifles may be different, they've used a #3 on some of their front sights.

You can find what you need to know about 777 load data on the Hodgdon web site.

I have been using 95grs T7 3F for the last 3 yrs in my huntsman.  Over 100 shots easy.  I have had no problems. Use Kleenbore primers or the crud ring will be bad.
