Walmart and Sidekicks
« on: December 02, 2006, 01:58:47 PM »
I've been thinking about trying a Sidekick out one of these days and when Aldar said the factory rep. told him no more thought I better get one now. So down to Wally World I go. Lady informs me that you cannot order any more guns. She says that what is in the show case is it. And even some of those were discounted. She tells me that I can order one from the factory. I'm not a ffl license holder or a dealer and I know blackpowder is different from smoke less, but is it possible for an individual to order one direct from the factory?   Also, when this gun is all said and done I would like it to be like this,,,,, Sidekick with a Hubbard ram rod, scope mounted and be clear of the hammer, and possibly set it up for the 25acp conversion.  Also, scope suggestions would also be appreciated. I have almost always used Leupold in the past, but just might try something diferent this time. Would be used for eastern whitetails so was considering something in the 1.5 - 6 power range. With maybe a 40 objective. Would like to go somewhere like Cabela's where I could compare brands side by side. Was thinking about the following,,,, Nikon, Pentax, Sightron and Weaver or if you guys have any favorites I'm open. $200 to $300 dollar range. A lot to ask in one post, but I would like to get moving on this A.S.A.P.  Any preferences on bases and rings too. I see them advertised, but don't see anyone  talking about Conetrol rings. Are they any good? Thank you very much for your responses. See ya,  RRM

I'd go to a different Walmart, many are doing away with their firearm sales, others that have good sales are still selling them, both stocked and special order, perhaps that store is one of the unfortunate ones. You don't need an FFL for a Sidekick (unless you live in Illinois according to Cabelas!), but you do for the Huntsman. I don't think H&R will accept orders from individuals, just wholesalers, but it wouldn't hurt to give em a call just in case the WM person was correct.
