Used 10 ga prices
« on: December 03, 2006, 04:57:49 AM »
I have been looking around for a used 10 ga for turkey and waterfowl.  I think the ones I have found are way overpriced for a used H&R.  What are these going for in your neck of the woods?  For what I've been finding them for I can almost buy a new one and not risk inheriting someones elses problems.

Unless you want a 36"barrel I don't know why you wouldn't buy a new one. I tried to get a good deal for years on a 36"barreled model176 and the bid would be $50.00 until the last few minutes of the auction then it would usually end between $150.00-$200.00. By the time you pay tranfer cost and shipping it's approaching the cost of a new gun. Unless you just happen to get lucky at a pawn shop or gun show you might as well get a new one.

I was in a favorite gunshop last year when this went down.......

I guy, 20 something, comes in with a boxed up 10ga NEF and a box of turkey loads with one shell missing.  Traded for a cheap 12ga pump.  I think he got $100 in trade value and I could have gotten it with $75 cash!  Still wish I did......

I just took a 36" 10Ga in on a trade, the first one I have seen. I have not shot it yet, but am fearfully looking forward to it.

CDA, just go shoot it! ;D

They are a hoot with the long barrels. If I had a 10ga reloader, I would shoot trap with mine. Trust me, I need the extra shot charge. ::)

There's one with a 32" barrel on the rack at the local Gander Mtn (La Crosse WI) for 80 bucks. It feels loose when open, but seems to lock up tight. Quite a cannon!

:)Do it, Dogman, and let us know how it works out. But, remember that Federal is the only company that offers 10 ga. slugs as far as I know-unless you handload. Hunman55

Nitro offers 10ga slugs as well. They claim them to be accurate at 200 yards!

Thanks Markus, I think these are the folks I have been looking for.

I remember seeing this site awhile ago and managed to loose the bookmark.

2oz trap loads anyone?
