Scope for 1895
« on: December 03, 2006, 12:45:41 PM »
I have a 1995 in 450 marlin and i was wondering what scope do you guys have on yours , i was thinking about a leupold shotgun scope because i think it would handle the recoil better than most normal rifle scopes...

I have a fixed 4x Burris on my 1895 45/70. It works very well as a deer rifle.

I second EsoxLucius,  the Leupold VX-II 1-4x20mm will handle the recoil just fine. A shotgun scope is built the same as there rifle scopes, it is just the parallax is set different.

Although I do have a Leupold 3x9X40 VXII on mine.

I've got a Leupold Shotgun Scope 1 - 4X with heavy reticle on my 45-70, and I like it. Be sure to use Warne mounts.

Leupold VXII 2-7x in Warne Quick Detach rings.  I highly suggest you compare eye relief before choosing a scope unless all you will shoot it mild loads.

I put a Zeiss Z Point in a scout mount (no rings needed) on my Guide Gun in 45/70.  I shoot 420 LBT slugs with Reloader #7 (high end) and it has performed flawlessly for me.  I love the scout set up.
Give the people at the optic zone a call that's where I got mine.
