I have no idea?  That is weird? What I typed was that i was in a gunshop the other day and a guy came in with a muzzleloader.  It was  bolt-action.  He said to the guy behind the counter that it shot a 45 caliber bullet, but he needs to use a 45lc case and primer to fire it.  has anyone seen or heard anything about this type of unique smokepole?  Who made it?  I wish I would have asked that guy, but he was in a hurry. Thanks everyone!

Are you sure he did not say 45 Win Mag case? The Ultimate Muzzleloader uses 45 Win Mag cases.

The guy said 45lc.  I remember him showing the guy behind the counter.

Well I did confirm they are the 45 Win Mag. I was going to buy one from my local gun shop, he order in 2 of them and I looked at it. I also looked at the cases and seen the head stamp as 45 Win Mag.

I believe what you say Redhawk1.  I don't know if that guy has decided to use a 45lc instead of what they factory recommends, I don't know.  You were looking at them?  What made you change your mind about not getting one?  What was the price? I am selling my omega to get the prohunter, but I am going to wait until what TC comes out for next year.  This Ultimate smokepole has me interested, but the cost is up there.  This guy must have a older model, because his model didn't have a thumbhole stock.  It was a synthetic stock.

The prices are in the $1600 range. The reason I stayed with the Encore was, I have had such great success with them and the accuracy is outstanding. I just could not justify the added $1000 cost over the Encore. For the price of the Ultimate, I was able to get 2 Encores and have a muzzleloader that shoots every bit as accurate and about as far as the Ultimate. But the Pro-hunter is a different story, I had to have one and now I have the standard Encore  and the Pro-hunter. If my son wants to use one of mine for hunting, I can use the other. Both shoot sub MOA. The last time I got rid of one gun to get what was advertised as a better gun, I was disappointed in the performance of the new gun. So the Encore is my muzzleloader of choice, the Pro-hunter is the tops in my book.

I think the Ultimate is a fine muzzleloader, but just not for me.

DEPUTY you are as happy with your Ultimate as I am with my Encores, and I am sure what you say is true. If I did not have the Encores I would own an Ultimate.

It's getting rediculous. Now we have a ML that ulilizes all the components of a cartridge they just aren't assembled. You might as well be shooting a single shot rifle. How long will it be before they add a magazine to hold primed cases? The whole "primitive weapon"  thing is getting lost in technology. I feel sorry for those that kid themselves  that they are handicaped by hunting with such equipment and can legitimately call themselves a ML hunter. They are missing the point. It's a cheaters way of getting in on an extra season and as success rates go up our game and fish depts. will begin to cut out those opportunities. Primitive weapon seasons were developed to provide extra recreational hours to hunters with minimal impact to the game management plan
Just another worthless opinion!!
