Trigger creep

What's the proper way to reduce trigger creep in a single action? I note that they seem to generally have pretty much the same geometry. I have some cheap SAs that could use some trigger work. (Creepy enough for Holloween.)

I prefer to have a trigger job done to include a trigger stop by a very good sixgunsmith.

I've got to admit that I don't understand what a trigger stop is all about. Can somebody fill me in?

It limits the overtravel or that movement of the trigger rearward after the sear breaks.

On a Ruger single action I use a fixture to hold the hammer and stone the back side of the sear until I have an engagement of .010"-.012". This gives a very good trigger pull with no noticeable creep.
Good Shooting!
