My opportunity is finally here!

I've been looking and looking and looking for 50 to 100 Acres of land to form a little hunting club/camp on the last 4 or 5 years. Well my hunting club/camp found me! A few guys at work that I KNOW AND TRUST want me to join their club. This is a great opportunity for me. They've been doing a deer management type of program for the last 6 or 7 years with really good results. They're getting a nice 32 or 36 foot trailer for next season.

They lease 150 Acres from a logging company. The land borders 1000 acres of state land. From our camp to the road where people have to park to use the state land is about 2 miles behind us. They never see anyone on the state land because of the distance. I guess people don't like to walk that far! The club/camp is in southwest Cortland County. The next county over is Tioga which allows rifles. Maybe they'll be allowed in Cortland County pretty soon...............I can hope can't I!  ;D

Now I can get serious about hunting again!  ;D ;) 8)

Thanks Glow. It's been a while since I've hunted regularly or seriously. Never even bought my license last year! :'(

WHAT LOGGING CO. LEASES THAT FOR SOUTH. i THOUGHT THAT WAS A NORTHERN TIER THING. i`M DOWN IN DUTCHESS CO. & WAS LOOKING UP IN RENSSALEAR(EAST OF ALBANY) BUT W/ NO LUCK.  MAYBE THEY HAVE SOMETHING OVER MY WAY.  MIKE

mspaci, I believe the company's name is Cotton Haley. I'll have to ask my friend on Monday (guess where he's going for the weekend! ;)), I'll let you know.

That might be it. I thought it was Cotton Haley or Cotton Hanley but I could be wrong! I'll find out tomorrow.

Unfortunately no I didn't. I really don't have any good places to go, that's all going to change next year! Plus I've been busier the heck these last two months! How's the police officer gig going?  ;D

No complaints on the PO gig...What a change from sitting at a desk all day long...I love it.  I'm working midnights right now and will be for atleast the remainder of 2007...I tried to bid on afternoons but was turned down.  So, mids is where I will stay...I enjoy the stealth aspect as well...At least as stealthy as you can get in a black and white car with flashy lights on the roof...The cars do have a cool feature that will allow me to black out the rear tail lights so that I can approach blacked out if the need be...Neat.

WNY_Whitetailer, glad to hear all is going well. When I started at the plant in 97 I was on 3rd shift (11 pm to 7 am) for my first two months. I actually thought about quitting to tell you the truth, I don't think I would have, but I did think about it. I ended up getting bumped to 2nd shift (3pm to 11 pm) and have pretty much been there since. I was on days (7 am to 3 pm) for 10 months or so and can go back if I want to but I'd rather work 2nd!
