Remington Misfire Disappointment

I missed the buck of a lifetime w/ a 150 gr. "Core-Lokt" that would not go off. I am e-mailing them to see how they will handle this situation. Anyone have similar experience? Will keep you posted.

Well, you'll always have that one bullet that doesn't go off. I've never had it happen but I've heard of it more in Winchester and Federal centerfires, honestly. It was probably just a freak accident and I think you should just let it roll off your shoulder; accidents and mistakes happen and as long as you didn't die or get injured from it, I'd say let it go.

Was it the ammo or the gun?  Recently I had a round that didn't go off at the range.  Upon closer inspection, I found that the firing pin didnt hit the primer hard enough.  The primer had just a little dimple in it, not a full dent.  This only happend once, and it was a reload,  but it can happen anytime if the bolt has never been cleaned.  The rifle that it happened to me is one that sat around for about 40 years.  I didnt really clean it good before taking it to the range.   The round went off the second time struck.

To have a Factory CoreLokt fail to fire is very, very unusual, but I guess not impossible.  I can say I never heard of it before.  Not with Remington Factory Ammo.

How old was the ammo?  Somewhere around 1995 Rem had an ammo recall due to hard primers if I remember correctly.

Two years ago I had 3 out of a box that failed to fire I contacted Remington and there reply was for me to send the box and remaining ammo to them for evaluation they didn’t seem to concerned about the matter so I pulled bullets and put it in with the rest of the brass for the next handloadsI will never buy a box of Remington ammo it was 150 grain 30-30...Good Luck

The ammo was purchased new this season. The rest of the story is it was initially struck with a 700 bdl, twice. Then I put it through my friends Browning A bolt, twice. We also fired the rest of the box, to have another round do the same thing. When I told my story at the local gun shop/hangout, one of the men advised me to drop the bad rounds in penetrating oil and discard them. I contacted Remington and the 1st person told me, since I didn't have the bad rounds, there was nothing they could do. I went up the chain of command to see what remedy they come up with.

Has anyone ever had any luck getting a company to stand behind their product? I have heard nothing from Remington, and frankly would be surprised if I did.

Remington won't stand behind the guns they sell most of the time much less their ammo. If they sell something that is defective, they will blame it on abuse.  Believe it or not, the worst ammo I have ever purchased was Hornady.  I have never bought a box without finding at least one dud in the box.  It is the primers.  They are extremely hard.
