I have been shooting a .270 win featherweight carbine for 23 years..It is the only rifle that i have ever hunted with and will ever hunt with..It has been the most reliable , long lasting and durable gun a person could ever want to own...My dad cut my teeth on hunting with his pre 64 model 70 and then bought mine for me the following year. I am a huge fan of it ...buy it , you wont be disappointed...Afriend of mine bought a win. coyote also and loves it dearly...good luck..with winchester rifles in my opinion you cant go wrong...unless things have changed drasticly in the last 25 years...cap
I've got a long list of real good reasons for all the things I've done.

Mine aren't light weight models, but my Winchester Super Shadow 270 WSM and 300 WSM are very good rifles, both shoot 1/2" to 3/4" groups. Like them better than my Ruger 77's, Mossberg ATR and Steven 200's.

I have a Mod 70 XTR Featherweight in 280 that I bought about 15 years ago when I was 13 (worked hard all summer for it).  I love it. Has the best peice of walnut I have ever seen on a standard grade gun.  Have deer hunted with it every year since and have never been disappointed.

I was drooling over a Mod 70 Stealth II in 22-250 today but didn't like the $700 price tag.  If I hit the powerball tonight I guess I will just have to go pick it up  ;).

I have a 70 Classic Sporter in 30.06 and will never sell it.  I groups around a MOA with non-premium ammo.  Someday when I get other gun projects caught up I will work up a load for it.  I am so sad the Model 70 is no more.  I am going to start to look for used ones soon.  I need a 17 HMR and new varmint/predator gun first.  Oh, I have to get my new Ruger 06 sighted in and work up a better load in my inline.   So little time.
