Dropped Calibers
« on: December 08, 2006, 09:13:22 AM »
Greetings Guys,
I always buy Ruger firearms.  I love them.  I have a question though.  Did they drop the WSM calibers from the MKII line of rifles?  I bought a 270WSM several years ago and I love it.  If they dropped the caliber, anyone know why, or when?  Thanks!

I do believe they did.  Why?  Lack of sales and overall interest in the line of WSM (and RSSM) cartridges.  heck even the fierarms that bared the Winchester brand couldn't hold interst in the cartridges enough to keep them above water.

And the cartridges did nothin' to hold up the rifles, either.  :P

Ok, since they ran those calibers for only a few years, does that mean they would ever be worth more?  Should I put it in the guncabinet and not shoot it, or should I just go ahead and shoot and enjoy it?

If you've already shot it tucking it away is to late.  I really wouldn't consider it a collectable.  Perhaps your grandkids would see a collectable interest in it but even though it wasn't a super production number model there's just very little interest in them.  Hence the discontinuation.
