It's PSI, and you can bet that as soon as NEF puts out anything close to a .400 barrel. I'm going to have a chambering reamer in my hand.

Quickdtoo(Tim) has a 405 Win. built on a 38-55 barrel. The 405 case isn't quite as long as the 3" 400 Jefferies.Might just have to buy the #1 its a lot more cash. :( It going to depend on how much Hornady want for the ammo. There web site still doesn't say.Dave.

Buffalohunter,If you get the chance to buy Mark Sullivans DVD Sudden Death he uses the 450/400 the whole way thru it.He uses it on Capes,Lion,Leopard and Hippo.I was impressed what it did I'm used to Mark using bigger bores on the game.Dave

I might have a Handi built in it or get a #1 in it someday.

450/400 NE is top of my list as well, probably in the No 1.  404 Jeff was originally loaded to match this round although it is hotter now.  Once considered the best "all arounder" in Africa, before the 375 H&H.  Will give tremendous penetration and will probably recoil less than a 375 No 1., low pressure in that big case.  Gregor Woods, Boddington and other scribes sing the praises of this cartridge.  Ruger should be praised for bringing this classic back.

If you go to match grade machine website look at the available calibers they offer for the Encore. I am thinking about the 470 nitro express. :)

A guy on  N.E. gave me some info on the 45/90 I'm having built on my NEF 45-70 SB2 frame. One of the loads he says about is a 400gr bullet at 2050 (3731 energy) compared to a 400/450 factory load of 400grs at 2150 (4105).I think that load out of a Handi would be wicked on both ends, but I'm sure I'll give it a try sometime :P.Dave

The 405 Rem bullet is 405 2050 (3778)  :o
