deer with a dixie slug?
« on: December 08, 2006, 04:32:34 PM »
just wondering if anybody has taken a deer with these slugs.
although i have bought/tried and use a variety of the new high speed/high tech slugs(copper solids, core lokts, barnes, partitions) i am not so sure that a $3 a round slug is/was needed for the majority of shots i've taken. i am considering trying a few of their 12's and 20's. i figure a hole is a hole (and it sounds as if the dixies really make a hole) at a fraction of the cost.

Nope but I've been hunting with them for about 2 weeks now.  Haven't seen any game (deer or hog) large enough.  For the smaller hogs I always fall back on buckshot.  A dixie slug would turn a smaller hog inside out...
