Ruger Hawkeye

I see theres a new rifle on the Ruger website called a Hawkeye. Does anyone have anything to say about this new rifle? What makes it better than the good old M77?

First you saw it on the website, now raed about it on that same site. LOL http://www.ruger.com/Firearms/FAFamily?type=Rifle&subtype=Bolt%20Action&famlst=60  Basically it's a M77MkII with slightly different checkering and an improved trigger.

  At this time, I'd doubt it.  If there's enough calll for them perhaps but there really isn't a huge market for lefty guns in this rifle niche.

I dont think the hawkeys look as nice as the m77mkII rifles do, the blueing looks dull and the stocks look less classic.  The african doesnt even have a quarter rib. Hope the iron sights are good and not just for looks.

 Concerned about if the sigths are just for looks yet express concern about the oberall look of the stock and blueing?  ???  These are designed for a specific purpose, they're workin' guns.  Not showy sunny day at he range guns.  What's the 1/4 rib gonna add to the gun that isn't already there? Hunting isn't about fashion so the guns don't need a high gloss finish nor a "classic" look.  Fit, form and function are what's important under the conditions these Hawkeye's are marketing themselves for.

I agree function first, but I still want my hard earned money to buy the whole packare including the classic looks. 
Some dont like the classic looks some do I just hope they dont drop them all together.  By the way the quarter rib is nice to have as part of the sight plane for quick shots. also easier to do sight changes and mods if you have the rib.

The real product shouldn't be judged by the way the bluing looks on a web page - there are way too many variables that could affect the looks on your screen, starting with the original photograph.

I don't care for the looks of the quarter rib so I won't miss it.
