I was stationed there years ago, 1-20 Field Artillery First Cavlary Division! Back in the 80's .  Just saw my units patch in Iraq! I liked fort Hood except for the fire ants.

My son is undergoing training at Fort Knox now ( 19D Cavalry Scout). He is pretty sure he will be assigned to Ft. Hood in May ( 3rd Cav??).

4th ID. Live in on-post family housing.
Good luck, Ft Hood has been the worst post by far I've ever been to. Most everyone here will tell you that also especially if they're in a line unit. The "Great Place" my butt!

Mitchell, he was in the OSUT, graduated May 03, ( my birthday ). I drove down for it, from Washington, and drove him back to Wa., via Reno, Nv, to see my parents/his grandparents. He's here for a couple of weeks, then to Ft. Hood. At this point he does not know what unit he will be assigned to. During his training he was with the 5/15th. Thanks for serving! Once he gets there and finds his assignment, I'll let you know. Mark.
