Surplus Ammo Avalibility & Prices (Sumner??/ Mikey??)
« on: December 11, 2006, 05:57:44 AM »
Guys what do you think about the ammo prices today and the availability too?

I been away for a while but i was buying up south african 308 ball ammo and now there's none to be had, plus the prices on whats left is sky high.  We talked about this before but the prices are going thru the roof just look at the 7,62x39 ammo.  Its past the time to stockup and stockpile ammo were too late. I guess the shooting hayday is gone.  We were shooting the big bores as cheap as 22's and shooting that many rounds too.  The last time we were out we shot over 1,000rds of 308/223/7,62x39/45acp. we had a blast and it was purchased at the old ammo prices too.

Those days of going out and cheaply burning up several hundred rounds are fleeing away from us pretty fast. In all honesty, My Bones can't take that Kind of abuse anymore anyway ! We did try to warn everyone a couple of years ago that this was coming ! I hope a bunch of them listened !
Now I reload just about everything I shoot and do not get into my "Reserves" .

When we talked about the ammo drying up and the rise in ammo prices i was buying up as much as i could afford to stockpile up.  I also went after all my reloading dies in the LEE brand too. Even the prices on the reloading stuff has been climbing too.(tools)  The reloading components like bullets/primers'powder isn't so cheap anymore too.  A day at the range shooting handguns and rifles isn't so affordable anymore.  We can always put away the big bores and shoot the 22's more often too i guess.

The old High Standard semi-auto .22 has already came out of retirement  ;)
